Atika Suri (born Indragiri Hulu Regency, Riau; February 10, 1968) is an Indonesian TV newscasters and newscast producer.

Education and training

Atika Suri graduated from the Design and Art Faculty of Trisakti University in Jakarta. During her career as television journalist, Suri has attended several professional trainings including Peace Journalism from the BBC in 2001, CNN Television Workshop in October 2000, and TV News Production Workshops by Frank N. Magid Associates in 1995 and 1996.

Career

Suri began her career as a reporter and news presenter for RCTI's morning show, Nuansa Pagi , in 1993. Since 1994, Suri had been assigned to report Indonesia's presidential activities including reporting overseas visits of former presidents Suharto and Abdurrahman Wahid. As a presidential correspondent, Suri had conducted many live reports from overseas, and also established networks with sources such as cabinet ministers and officials. Suri also did live reports during the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Leaders Meeting in Bogor, Indonesia in 1994, and covered the Meeting of 77 Heads of the 3rd World Countries, or G-77 Conference, in Havana, Cuba.

Atika Suri is now the news producer of RCTI's newscast, Buletin Siang , one of the news programs in Indonesia. Suri manages the production of the newscast, selects stories and arranges the rundown, writes news stories and lead-ins, copies edit and approves the scripts prior to editing and on-air. She also helps translate materials from news agencies and voices them into Indonesian language.

Since 2004, Suri has been back to serve as the main anchor of RCTI’s morning newscast Nuansa Pagi along with co-anchor Ade Novit. She had also served as the main anchor of Buletin Siang, as well as the newscaster of Seputar Indonesia .

Atika Suri had been nominated as the most favorite female news presenter of the Panasonic Awards in 2000. [1]

Douglas Edwards American television news anchor

Douglas Edwards was an American radio and television newscaster and correspondent who worked for the Columbia Broadcasting System (CBS) for more than four decades. After six years on CBS Radio in the 1940s, Edwards was among the first major broadcast journalists to move into the rapidly expanding medium of television. He is also generally recognized as the first presenter or "anchor" of a nationally televised, regularly scheduled newscast by an American network. Edwards presented news on CBS television every weeknight for 15 years, from March 20, 1947 until April 16, 1962. Initially aired as a 15-minute program under the title CBS Television News, the broadcast evolved into the CBS Evening News and in 1963 expanded to a 30-minute format under Walter Cronkite, who succeeded Edwards as anchor of the newscast. Although Edwards left the evening news in 1962, he continued to work for CBS for another quarter of a century, presenting news reports on both radio and daytime television, and editing news features, until his retirement from the network in 1988.

Helmi Johannes

Helmi Johannes is an Indonesian television newscaster and executive producer. Helmi Johannes now works for the Indonesian service of the Voice of America (VOA), based in Washington, DC. Helmi is responsible for the overall production, program development, talent and day-to-day operations of VOA Indonesian television programming.

Seputar Indonesia was Indonesia's longest running flagship newscast carried by a private television station. It appeared on RCTI on 15 November 1989 as Seputar Jakarta before it evolved to go nationwide on 15 November 1990. Since the end of 2005, the program has regained its position as the most-watched newscast in the country, according to ratings by Nielsen Media Research. During its early years, Seputar Indonesia was also carried by RCTI's then sister station SCTV.

Buletin Malam, is the first newscast containing international stories ever produced by a private television station in Indonesia. it was launched on 1 February 1991 on RCTI, Buletin Malam which was then hosted by Helmi Johannes and Desi Anwar. The newscast is a half-hour pre-midnight news program and it continues to be one of the strongest late night shows in Indonesian television industry, Buletin Malam was also carried by RCTI's then sister station SCTV.

Nuansa Pagi is the first morning newscast ever produced by a private television station in Indonesia. Nuansa Pagi was introduced by RCTI at 17 January 1993 as Buletin Pagi before it evolved to go nationwide on 24 August 1993 as Nuansa Pagi and since then has become one of the strongest morning shows in the country, according to Nielsen Media Research, Nuansa Pagi was also carried by RCTI's then sister station SCTV (1993-1996).

Buletin Siang was the first midday newscast ever produced by an Indonesian private television station. It was launched on 24 August 1993 on the privately owned RCTI television station in Indonesia. The program was also carried by RCTI's then sister station, SCTV.
