Avery Anderson III (born September 26, 2000) is an American college basketball player for the TCU Horned Frogs of the Big 12 Conference. He previously played for the Oklahoma State Cowboys.

Early life and high school career

Anderson lived in New Orleans until age four, when his family evacuated due to Hurricane Katrina and moved to Alabama before settling in Texas. [1] [2] He attended Northwest High School in Justin, Texas. Anderson averaged 22.7 points as a senior. [3] He left as the school's all-time leading scorer with 2,767 career points. [2] A four-star recruit, he committed to playing college basketball for Oklahoma State over offers from TCU, Texas Tech, Florida and LSU. [4]

College career

As a freshman at Oklahoma State, Anderson averaged 4.2 points and 2.1 rebounds per game. [5] On March 6, 2021, he scored 31 points in an 85–80 upset win over sixth-ranked West Virginia, while his teammates Cade Cunningham and Isaac Likekele were sidelined with injuries. [6] As a sophomore, Anderson averaged 12.2 points, 4 rebounds and 2 assists per game, shooting 47.5 percent from the floor. Following the season he declared for the 2021 NBA draft, but ultimately returned to Oklahoma State. [7] Anderson was named to the Third Team All-Big 12 as a junior. [8]

On April 22, 2023, Anderson transferred to play for the TCU Horned Frogs. [9]

Ed & Rae Schollmaier Arena, formerly known as Daniel–Meyer Coliseum, is a basketball arena located on the campus of Texas Christian University (TCU) in Fort Worth, Texas, United States. The TCU Horned Frogs are the athletic teams that represent Texas Christian University. The 18 varsity teams participate in NCAA Division I and in the Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) for football, competing mostly in the Big 12 Conference. The school was a founding member of the Southwest Conference and was a member of the Western Athletic Conference, Conference USA (C-USA), and the Mountain West Conference before joining the Big 12. Two TCU teams participate outside the Big 12 in sports not sponsored by that conference. The rifle team competes in the Patriot Rifle Conference, and the beach volleyball team will move to C-USA for 2023–24 after having been in the Coastal Collegiate Sports Association.

The 2017 TCU Horned Frogs football team represented Texas Christian University in the 2017 NCAA Division I FBS football season. The 122nd TCU football team played as a member of the Big 12 Conference and played their home games at Amon G. Carter Stadium, on the TCU campus in Fort Worth, Texas. They were led by 17th-year head coach Gary Patterson. They finished the season 11–3, 7–2 in Big 12 play to finish in second place. They lost to Oklahoma in the Big 12 Championship Game. They were invited to the Alamo Bowl where they defeated Stanford.

Amos Thomas was American collegiate and professional basketball player. He was a second round pick of the Buffalo Braves of the National Basketball Association in the 1971 NBA draft.

O'Brate Stadium is a baseball park in Stillwater, Oklahoma. The home field of the Oklahoma State University Cowboys college baseball team, it is named after Cecil O'Brate.
