Azaleos Corporation was a Seattle-based American corporation. Founded in 2004 by Roger Gerdes and Keith McCall, Azaleos provided remote management for Microsoft Exchange, Microsoft SharePoint and Microsoft Lync.

Company background

Azaleos was founded and incorporated as a Delaware corporation in May 2004 by Roger Gerdes and Keith McCall. The company's early funding was provided by Second Avenue Partners and Ignition Partners.[ citation needed ]

Services and technology

Azaleos provided remote managed services for Microsoft Exchange, SharePoint, and Lync.

In 2009, the company merged with M3 Technology Group, an email migration and managed services company focused on Microsoft Exchange and Microsoft Active Directory based in Charlotte, North Carolina. [1]

As a National Systems Integrator (NSI), Azaleos was one of Microsoft's top 34 partners in the United States, a "Microsoft Gold Partner" in messaging, communications and portals & collaboration competencies, [2] and a member of Microsoft's Exchange, SharePoint and Data Protection Manager Technology Adoption Programs. [3]

The company had reseller agreements with IBM, Verizon Business, CDW, and Savvis (a CenturyLink company) all of whom resold Azaleos managed services under their brand.[ citation needed ]

Azaleos was US-based with network operations centers in Seattle, Washington and Charlotte, North Carolina.

Acquisition

On December 18, 2012, Avanade announced its acquisition of Azaleos. [6] Approximately 200 Azaleos employees joined Avanade as part of the acquisition, most of them located in Seattle, Washington, and Charlotte, North Carolina. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

Managed private cloud refers to a principle in software architecture where a single instance of the software runs on a server, serves a single client organization (tenant), and is managed by a third party. The first release of Microsoft Exchange Server was version 4.0 in April 1996, when it was sold as an upgrade to Microsoft Mail 3.5. Before that, Microsoft Mail v2.0 was replaced in 1991 by "Microsoft Mail for PC Networks v2.1", based on Network Courier from its acquisition of Consumers Software. Exchange Server was an entirely new X.400-based client–server mail system with a single database store that also supported X.500 directory services. During its development, Microsoft migrated their own internal email from a Xenix-based system to Exchange Server from April 1993, with all 32,000 Microsoft mailboxes on Exchange by late 1996. The directory used by Exchange Server eventually became Microsoft's Active Directory service, an LDAP-compliant directory service. Active Directory was integrated into Windows 2000 as the foundation of Windows domains.

Persistent Chat is a messaging concept for group chat software that consist of standing, topic-based chatrooms with an emphasis on real-time messaging, that preserve conversation history over time which is visible to both current and future participants. This form of messaging was adopted by many organisations in regulated industries, to ensure compliance and was popular with the major financial centres around the world.
