The 15th BET Awards was held at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles, California on June 28, 2015 and was televised on BET. This year marked the ceremony's 15th anniversary and the milestone was celebrated throughout the show, which was hosted by Anthony Anderson and Tracee Ellis Ross. [1]

Contents

The nominees were announced on May 18, 2015. Nicki Minaj and Chris Brown lead the nominations with six each. Beyoncé and Lil Wayne followed with four each. Beyoncé was the big winner of the night with 3 awards, including Video of the Year for "7/11". Nicki Minaj and Chris Brown both won 2 each. Smokey Robinson was honored with the Lifetime Achievement Award, while Janet Jackson was honored with the inaugural Ultimate Icon: Music Dance Visual Award. Radio host Tom Joyner was also honored, receiving the Humanitarian Award. The show also featured a reunion of the Bad Boy Records roster, which included performances by founder Sean "Diddy" Combs as well as Lil' Kim, Mase, 112, Faith Evans, The Lox, and more.

"Super Bass" is a song by rapper Nicki Minaj from the deluxe version of her debut studio album, Pink Friday (2010). It was sent to American rhythmic radio stations as the album's fifth single on April 5, 2011. The song was co-written by Minaj, along with Ester Dean, Roahn Hylton, and Kane Beatz, who also produced the song along with JMIKE. According to Minaj, the song's lyrics detail the story of a playful romance between a man and a woman. The bubblegum pop and pop rap song contains electronic influences, while Minaj raps over a hip hop beat. The song also features uncredited vocals by singer-rapper Ester Dean. An accompanying music video for the single was shot in March 2011 by director Sanaa Hamri and shows Minaj playfully taunting a group of men; while making use of multiple props colored bubblegum pink.

The 13th BET Awards were held at the Nokia Theatre L.A. Live in Los Angeles, California on June 30, 2013. The awards ceremony recognized Americans in music, movies, sports and other fields of entertainment over the past year. Comedian and actor Chris Tucker hosted the event for the first time.

The 2011 Soul Train Music Awards was aired on November 27, 2011 on BET and Centric. The award ceremony was hosted by comedian and actor Cedric the Entertainer. The ceremony included special tributes to Gladys Knight and Earth Wind & Fire, both honorees received the Soul Train Legend Award. A special tribute performance was dedicated in memory of hip hop artist Heavy D, which include Doug E. Fresh, Kurtis Blow, and Whodini, Common and Naughty by Nature.

The Pinkprint is the third studio album by rapper Nicki Minaj, released on December 15, 2014, by Young Money Entertainment, Cash Money Records and Republic Records. Minaj co-executive-produced the album alongside Birdman, Lil Wayne and Ronald Williams, with a variety of producers who produced the album's sound. Looking to depart from the dance-pop elements of her second studio album, Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded (2012), The Pinkprint is a follow-up record influenced by her traditional hip hop beginnings.

BLACK GIRLS ROCK! is a company founded by executive producer, businesswoman, celebrity DJ, and former model Beverly Bond. The company hosts an annual award show of the same name that honors and promotes Black women's achievements. BLACK GIRLS ROCK! also has a nonprofit arm that teaches leadership skills and develops confidence in teenage girls through its annual "BLACK GIRLS LEAD" conference.

The 2014 Soul Train Music Awards was held at the Orleans Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada, on Centric and BET on November 30, 2014. The ceremony, hosted by media personality Wendy Williams, honored artists in 12 different categories. The nominees were announced October 13, 2014. R&B artist Chris Brown lead with seven nominations, including Best R&B/Soul Male Artist, Song of the Year, and Video of the Year. Beyoncé had six nominations, including Best R&B/Soul Female Artist, and Pharrell Williams has five nominations, including Best R&B/Soul Male Artist of the Year.

The 2015 BET Hip Hop Awards were held on October 9, 2015 at the Atlanta Civic Center and aired on October 13, 2015 on BET, MTV, and MTV2. The nominations were announced on September 15, 2015. Snoop Dogg served as host for the third consecutive year. Canadian rapper Drake led the nominations with 12 nominations. Just behind Drake were Big Sean with 10 nods and Kanye West and Nicki Minaj with 9 each. Kendrick Lamar and J. Cole were up for 8 awards.

Jill Scott was honored with Soul Train Awards' first ever Lady of Soul Award. The ceremony, hosted by Erykah Badu, honored artists in 12 different categories. American singer, songwriter and poet Jill Scott was honored with the Lady of Soul Award for her contributions to the music industry.

The 2018 BET Hip Hop Awards are a recognition ceremony held on October 16, 2018 at the Fillmore Miami Beach at Jackie Gleason Theater in Miami Beach, Florida. The nominations were announced on September 9, 2018.

The 19th BET Awards were held on June 23, 2019 at Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles, California. The ceremony celebrated achievements in entertainment and honors music, sports, television, and movies. Cardi B received the most nominations with seven, and won the most awards with two, including for Album of the Year.

The 2022 MTV Video Music Awards were held at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey on August 28, 2022. The show was emceed by LL Cool J, Nicki Minaj, and Jack Harlow. Minaj was honored with the Video Vanguard Award, presented to her by her fans. Red Hot Chili Peppers was honored with the Global Icon Award which was presented to them by Cheech & Chong. This was the last VMA ceremony to be broadcast on The CW.
