Baker Township covers an area of 125.05 square miles (323.9 km2) and contains one incorporated settlement, Quinter. According to the USGS, it contains three cemeteries: Old Order German Baptist, Quinter and Red Top. [ citation needed ]

The county was named for Granville Gove, a captain of Company G of the 11th Kansas Cavalry Regiment Volunteer Cavalry, who died from battle wounds during the American Civil War.
