The first game in the series was released in 1996,with five sequels and numerous spin-off titles being released since then. The series—set during a fictionalized version of the Taishōperiod—depicts groups of women with magical abilities using steam-powered mecha to combat demonic threats.

Shiki is a Japanese horror novel written by Fuyumi Ono. It was originally published in two parts by Shinchosha in 1998,and was then reprinted into five parts in 2002. The story is about a small Japanese village named Sotoba,which is plagued by bizarre deaths caused by what seemed to be an epidemic. However,when Toshio Ozaki,the hospital dean,performs his own investigations,he discovers vampires,known as "Shiki" living in their midst.
.hack//Quantum is an animated three episode OVA series for the .hack franchise,produced by Kinema Citrus and presented by Bandai Visual. It was initially scheduled to be released in November 2010,but it was later changed. The first episode was released on January 28,2011 with the following two episodes to be released in one month intervals. Excluding the all-CGI animation movie .hack//G.U. Trilogy,it is the first animated OVA project not to be produced by Bee Train. It is not related to a planned CGI movie tie-in to the newest game in the .hack series,.hack//Link. Masaki Tachibana of Tokyo Magnitude 8.0 directed the OVA project and .hack// writer Tatsuya Hamazaki scripted. Kinema Citrus animated the series and Kow Otani composed the music. Yuuka Nanri performed the theme song for the series. At Anime Weekend Atlanta 2011,Funimation announced that it had licensed the series and it was released on DVD and Blu-ray on February 14,2012,making it the first in the franchise not to be licensed by Bandai Entertainment. The UK release was published by MVM Entertainment on July 9,2012.

Sega Hard Girls is a Japanese multimedia project produced as a collaboration between ASCII Media Works' Dengeki Bunko imprint and video game company Sega. The project re-imagines various Sega video game consoles as anthropomorphized goddesses who appear all over modern Japan. The project has inspired a light novel series written by Tōru Shiwasu with illustrations by Kei,which was serialized in ASCII Media Works' Dengeki Bunko Magazine between 2013 and 2014,and an anime television series adaptation titled Hi-sCoool! SeHa Girls by TMS Entertainment,which aired in Japan between October and December 2014. A crossover video game with Idea Factory's Hyperdimension Neptunia franchise,Superdimension Neptune VS Sega Hard Girls,was released for the PlayStation Vita in Japan in November 2015,and in North America and Europe in October 2016.
Suzunone Seven!,or otherwise known as Suzunone7,is a Japanese visual novel developed and published by Clochette. The PC game was officially released on January 30,2009,rated for ages 18 and over. On May 27,2010,the game was made available on PlayStation 2,entitled Suzunone Seven! - Rebirth Knot,published by Alchemist as an all ages game. The PlayStation 2 version includes additional heroines. The game was later ported to PlayStation Portable on January 30,2014,which is also rated for all ages. A fan disc called Suzunone Seven! -Sweet Lovers' Concerto- was released on November 27,2009. The fan disc is restricted to ages 18 and over.
