Balraj Singh Panesar (born March 16, 1996) is a Canadian field hockey player who plays as a defender or midfielder for the English Premier Club Beeston HC and the Canadian national team.
Panesar was born on March 16, 1996, in Surrey, British Columbia. He was introduced to the sport by his father; his elder brother Sukhi Panesar has also represented Canada in field hockey.
Panesar played for the UBC Thunderbirds and United Brothers in Canada before moving to England. He joined Beeston HC [1]
Panesar made his national senior team debut in 2014. The same year, he was part of the Canadian team that won the silver medal at the Youth Olympics in Nanjing, China. [2] He captained the Canadian team at the 2016 Men's Hockey Junior World Cup in Lucknow, India. [3] He was part of the national team that clinched silver at the 2017 Men's Pan American Cup in Lancaster, United States. He was selected for the 2018 World Cup, [4] where he played all four games. In June 2019, he was selected in the Canada squad for the 2019 Pan American Games. [5] They won the silver medal as they lost 5–2 to Argentina in the final. [6]
The Canada women's national field hockey team participates in international field hockey competitions. In 1991, the Canadian men's and women's programs united under the national umbrella of Field Hockey Canada to share funding and infrastructure. The women's team made its first international appearance at the 1978 Women's Hockey World Cup in Madrid, Spain, finishing in fifth place. They were the runner-up at the 1983 Women's Hockey World Cup and the bronze medallists at the 1986 Women's Hockey World Cup.

David Charles Michael Carter is a Canadian field hockey player who is the goalie for the Canada men's national field hockey team. He made his international debut on home soil against Chile in 2007 and registered a 1–1 draw. His first career win came at the Azlan Shah Cup Tournament in Malaysia against Belgium in 2008. Carter currently has 122 international caps and has represented Canada at the 2009 Pan American Cup, 2010 World Cup, 2010 Commonwealth Games, and 2011 Pan American Games alongside various other international competitions. After playing for the UBC Thunderbirds for 5 years, Carter currently plays for the United Brothers of the Vancouver Premier League. Carter was selected Goaltender of the Tournament for the 2009 Pan American Cup which qualified Canada for the 2010 World Cup to be held in New Delhi, India. He was also selected to the Pan American Elite Team in 2009. Instrumental in helping Canada qualify for the Rio Olympics in 2016, Carter was named both Player of the Tournament and Goalie of the Tournament at the World League Round 3 Event in Buenos Aires, Argentina. At the event Canada defeated New Zealand in a 14-round shootout after regulation time ended 0-0, where Carter was called upon to make multiple saves in the quarterfinal match up. He then achieved a silver medal in the 2015 Pan American Games in Toronto and was then nominated for FIH Goalie of the Year. In 2015 he wads named Field Hockey Canada Player of the Year and another selection to the Pan American Elite Team.
