Bengaluru District was a district in the state of Karnataka, India. In 1986, Bangalore District was bifurcated into Bengaluru Urban district and Bengaluru Rural district.

Karnataka is a state in the southwestern region of India. It was formed as Mysore State on 1 November 1956, with the passage of the States Reorganisation Act, and renamed Karnataka in 1973. The state is bordered by the Lakshadweep Sea to the west, Goa to the northwest, Maharashtra to the north, Telangana to the northeast, Andhra Pradesh to the east, Tamil Nadu to the southeast, and Kerala to the southwest. With 61,130,704 inhabitants at the 2011 census, Karnataka is the eighth-largest state by population, comprising 31 districts. With 15,257,000 residents, the state capital Bengaluru is the largest city of Karnataka.
The South Western Railway (SWR) is one of the 19 railway zones of Indian Railways, headquartered at Hubballi in the Indian state of Karnataka. SWR was created from carving out the routes from Southern Railways, South Central Railways and Central Railways in 2003.

Hospet is the largest and fastest-growing industrial city and district headquarters of the Vijayanagara district in the Indian state of Karnataka. Hospet is known as "the steel city of Karnataka". It is located on the bank of the Tungabhadra River and is 13 km (8.1 mi) from Hampi (Vijayanagar). Hampi was once the capital of the Vijayanagara Empire. Bangalore Division, officially Bengaluru division, is one of the four divisions of the Indian state Karnataka. The division comprises the districts of Bangalore Urban, Bangalore Rural, Chikkaballapur, Chitradurga, Davanagere, Kolar, Ramanagara, Shimoga, and Tumakuru.The total area of the division is 49,936 km2. Kempegowda International Airport is an international airport serving Bengaluru, the capital of the Indian state of Karnataka. Spread over 16 square kilometres (6.2 sq mi), it is located about 35 km (22 mi) north of the city near the suburb of Devanahalli. It is owned and operated by Bengaluru International Airport Limited (BIAL), a public–private consortium. The airport opened in May 2008 as an alternative to the increasingly congested HAL Airport, the original commercial airport serving the city. It is named after Kempe Gowda I, the founder of Bengaluru. Kempegowda International Airport became Karnataka's first fully solar powered airport, developed by CleanMax Solar.
The Bangalore Metropolitan Region Development Authority(BMRDA), is an autonomous body created by the Government of Karnataka under the BMRDA Act 1985 for the purpose of planning, co-ordinating and supervising the proper and orderly development of the areas within the Bengaluru Metropolitan Region (BMR) which comprises Bengaluru Urban district, Bengaluru Rural district and Ramanagara District. Since 2007, BMRDA covers an area of 8,005 km2 (3,091 sq mi), the second largest metropolitan area in India, after the Amaravati Metropolitan Region. Bengaluru has also emerged as India's fifth largest metropolitan city by population (also the third largest city proper by population). Unlike the Bangalore Development Authority (BDA), the BMRDA does not have the power to acquire land.

Buses, cars and trains are the means of transport for moving across distant places in Karnataka. For transportation within the city or town limits; motorbikes, cars, autorickshaws and buses are used. With the advent of low-cost airlines, many people are choosing to travel via air as well.
The Karnataka State Police is the law enforcement agency for the Indian state of Karnataka. It was established in 1965 and is headquartered in Bengaluru, the capital city of Karnataka. The KSP is a state police force that works under the purview of the Department of Home Affairs, Government of Karnataka. The department is headed by the Director General and Inspector General of Police.

Bengaluru Cantonment railway station, also known as Bengaluru Cant is one of the four important railway stations serving the city of Bengaluru and it is located in the locality of Vasanth Nagar and adjoins Fraser Town, Benson Town and Shivajinagar. The Station started operations in 1864, with the launch of the Bengaluru Cantonment – Jolarpettai train services by the Madras Railway. The train line was broad-gauge and 149 km long, connecting the Bengaluru Cantonment with Vellore district. A total of 119 passenger trains start/end/pass through Bengaluru Cantonment railway station. Total 499 stations are directly connected to Bengaluru Cantonment railway station via these 269 passenger trains.

The first case of the COVID-19 pandemic in the Indian state of Karnataka was confirmed on 8 March 2020. Two days later, the state became the first in India to invoke the provisions of the Epidemic Diseases Act, 1897, which was set to last for a year, to curb the spread of the disease. As of 25 October 2022, Karnataka has 40,01,655 confirmed cases and 40,097 deaths. with 39,52,381 recoveries and 9,135 active cases.
