Bangladesh Mashoor-ul-Haque Memorial High School and College, commonly known as Bangladesh M.H.M. School, is a non-government institution operated by the Bangladesh Embassy in Qatar. [1] Being established in 1979, it is the largest Bangladeshi private school in Qatar, primarily catering to the large Bangladeshi expatriate population..

The institution follows the English curriculum of national curriculum of Bangladesh (NCTB) under the Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (BISE) of Dhaka, Bangladesh.

History

The school was founded through the efforts of Late Brigadier Mohammed Mashoor-ul Haque, the first Bangladeshi ambassador to Qatar. He convened a meeting with fellow countrymen, leading to the formation of the Bangladesh Education Society (B.E.S). This society was entrusted with the responsibility of establishing the school.

Teaching Staff

As per the Annual Magazine 2024 published by the institute named "The Mirror 2024", the school had a total of 63 teachers teaching students from classes KG-1 to Grade-12.

Student body

As of 2024 the school had taught around 3000 to 4000 students, with a total of 1500 active students. It focuses in serving the Bangladeshi expatriates in Qatar with majority of its students being the children of Bangladeshi expatriates residing in Qatar. [2]

Transport

This school provides its own transport solution for the comfort of its students by maintaining a fleet of school buses. As of 2020 the school had over 35 buses, three of which were recently acquired. [2]

Admission to the institute is conducted through an Admission Test, which takes place in the month of January.

Student Leadership & Prefect System

To cultivate leadership and teamwork among students, the institute assigns prefect positions to College students, primarily from Grade XI. These student prefects play a crucial role in maintaining discipline and coordinating various school programs.

College-Level Prefects

Each year, the institute appoints four College Prefects:

  2. College Cultural Prefect – Coordinates cultural programs and events.
  3. College Sports Prefect – Manages inter-house and school-level sports activities.
  4. College Scout Prefect – Leads scout activities and participation in national and international scouting events.
