The 1988 Summer Olympics, officially known as the Games of the XXIV Olympiad, was an international multi-sport event celebrated from 17 September to 2 October 1988 in Seoul, South Korea. 159 nations were represented at the games, by a total of 8,391 athletes: 6,197 men and 2,194 women. 237 events were held and 27,221 volunteers helped to prepare the Olympics. 11,331 media showed the Games all over the world. These were the last Olympic Games for the Soviet Union and East Germany, as both ceased to exist before the next Olympic Games in 1992. The Soviet Union dominated the medal table, winning 55 gold and 132 total medals. No country has won more than 50 in an Olympics since 1988.

The 16 teams are drawn into four groups of four and each group played a round-robin tournament. The 6th Asian Games were held from 9 to 20 December 1970 in Bangkok, Thailand. Seoul, South Korea, had been selected to host the 6th Games but it declined due to both financial reasons and security threats from neighboring North Korea.. The previous host, Thailand, stepped in to save the Asiad. 2,400 athletes from 18 countries competed in this Asiad, where yachting made its debut.

The Pakistan national field hockey team is administered by the Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF), the governing body for hockey in Pakistan. They have been a member of the International Hockey Federation (FIH) since 1948 and founding member of the Asian Hockey Federation (ASHF) which formed in 1958. Pakistan is the most successful national field hockey team in the Hockey World Cup with four championships: 1971, 1978, 1982 and 1994. Pakistan also has the best overall performance in World Cup history in both proportional and absolute terms with 53 victories in 84 matches played, seven time draws, six appearances in the finals and only 24 losses. Pakistan national team has played in all FIH World Cup editions with only one absence in 2014. The green shirts is also one of the most successful national teams in the Asian Games with eight gold medals: 1958, 1962, 1970, 1974, 1978, 1982, 1990 and 2010, the highest number of times a country has come first, and the only Asian team to have won the prestigious Champions Trophy with three championships: 1978, 1980 and 1994. Abrar Hussain was a professional Pakistani welterweight and Light-middleweight boxer. Hussain represented Pakistan at the 1984, 1988, and 1992 Summer Olympics. In 1985 South Asian Games, he won a Gold medal for Pakistan in Dhaka. In 1990 Asian Games, Hussain secured Gold medal in boxing for Pakistan. He also represented his country at the 1990 Commonwealth Games.

Kim Jong-eun is a South Korean field hockey player. At the 2008 and 2012 Summer Olympics she competed with the Korea women's national field hockey team in the women's tournament. She competed at the 2010 and 2014 Asian Games.

Mosharraf Hossain is a former Bangladeshi boxer who won the first ever medal for Bangladesh in 1986 Asian Games. He won Bronze medal in light heavyweight (81 kg) event. He also won gold medal in 1985 South Asian Games. Mosharraf Hossain is awarded 1999 National Sports Awards.

Bangladesh mens national volleyball team National sports team

The Bangladesh men's national volleyball team is the national men's volleyball team of Bangladesh. It is governed by the Bangladesh Volleyball Federation (B.V.F.) and takes part in international volleyball competitions and friendly matches.
