Barbara Cairncross is a South African former cricketer who played as a right-handed batter. She appeared in three Test matches for South Africa in 1960 and 1961,all against England,scoring 65 runs in her six innings. She played domestic cricket for Southern Transvaal. [1] [2]
Cairncross made her first appearance in the series against England for South African XI Women,opening the innings alongside captain Joy Irwin. [3] After making a duck in the first-innings,she scored 27 in the second,putting on 53 for the first-wicket with Irwin. [3] In the subsequent tour match,she captained a Southern Transvaal side that included five players who would go on to play Test cricket for South Africa. Opening the batting once more,with Eileen Hurly this time,Cairncross fell for 17 as her side could only muster 147 runs,rescued by 68 from Yvonne van Mentz. [4] In the second innings,needing 59 to avoid defeat,Cairncross remained 48* as the match was drawn. [4]
On South Africa's Test debut,Cairncross scored 24 runs in the first-innings and then added 9 in the second before being run out. [5] She failed to make double-figures in the second Test,falling for eight in the first-innings,and four in the second-innings as South Africa were forced to follow-on. [6] Playing in the third Test,she lost her wicket for a duck in the first-innings,but managed to add 83 for the fifth-wicket with Sheelagh Nefdt to provide the only resistance as South Africa lost by an innings and eight wickets. Robert Graeme Pollock is a former cricketer for South Africa,Transvaal and Eastern Province. Cri-Zelda Brits,also written Crizelda Brits and Cri-zelda Brits is a South African cricketer. A right-handed batsman and right-arm medium-fast bowler,Brits was originally called up to the South Africa national women's cricket team as an opening bowler in 2002. She developed into an all-rounder,and since 2005 has established herself as a specialist batsman. She captained South Africa in 23 matches in 2007 and 2008,but was replaced as captain in 2009 in order to "concentrate entirely on her own performance." She was reappointed as captain for the 2010 ICC Women's World Twenty20. Between 2007 and 2011 she captain South Africa a total of 36 times.
Yvonne van Mentz is a South African former cricketer who played as an all-rounder. She appeared in four Test matches for South Africa in 1960 and 1961,all against England. She scored South African's first century in Women's Test cricket,with 105* in the fourth Test of the series. She played domestic cricket for Southern Transvaal and Natal.
Lindsay Anne Reeler is a former New South Wales Breakers and Australia cricketer. A right-handed opening batsman and occasional right-arm medium pace bowler,she played 10 Test matches for Australia between 1984 and 1987,scoring a century against England in her penultimate Test match in August 1987. She has also played 23 One Day Internationals for Australia,scoring 1,034 runs with two centuries and eight half-centuries at an average in the high-fifties. She was the first woman to score 1,000 runs in ODIs for Australia. Her final WODI appearance was in the final of the 1988 Women's Cricket World Cup.
