Joshua Lawrence Barnett is an American mixed martial artist, professional wrestler and color commentator currently signed to Bellator MMA, competing in their Heavyweight division. Barnett previously competed for the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC), where he is a former UFC Heavyweight Champion. In 2003, Barnett won the King of Pancrase Openweight Championship and was a finalist in both the 2006 PRIDE Openweight Grand Prix and the 2012 Strikeforce Heavyweight Championship Grand Prix. He has also competed in Affliction, World Victory Road, DREAM and Impact FC. In Brazilian jiu-jitsu, Barnett won the inaugural Metamoris Heavyweight Championship in 2014.

Gary Barnett American football coach

Gary Lee Barnett is a former American football player and coach. He served as the head coach at Fort Lewis College (1982–1983), Northwestern University (1992–1998), and the University of Colorado at Boulder (1999–2005), compiling a career college football record of 92–94–2. His 1995 Northwestern team won the Big Ten Conference title, the first for the program since 1936, and played in the school's first Rose Bowl since 1949. At Colorado, Barnett was suspended briefly in the 2004 offseason due to events stemming from allegations of sexual misconduct by several members of the football team.

Ole Miss riot of 1962

The Ole Miss riot of 1962, or Battle of Oxford, was an incident of mob violence by proponents of racial segregation beginning the night of September 30, 1962. Segregationists were protesting the enrollment of James Meredith, an African-American veteran, at the University of Mississippi at Oxford, Mississippi. Federal and U.S. state law enforcement were dispatched to accompany Meredith during his registration to maintain civil order, but a riot erupted on campus. Two civilians, one a French journalist, were killed during the night, and over 300 people were injured, including one-third of the federal law enforcement personnel deployed.

Barnett Glacier glacier in Antarctica

Barnett Glacier is a large glacier in the Anare Mountains that flows east along the south side of Tapsell Foreland into Smith Inlet, northern Victoria Land, Antarctica. It was mapped by the United States Geological Survey (USGS) from surveys and from U.S. Navy air photos, 1960–63, and named by the Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names after Donald C. Barnett, USGS topographic engineer, a member of USGS Topo East and West, 1962–63, in which the expedition extended geodetic control from the area of Cape Hallett to the Wilson Hills and from the foot of Beardmore Glacier through the Horlick Mountains. The glacier lies on the Pennell Coast, a portion of Antarctica lying between Cape Williams and Cape Adare.

Cane Hill (band) American band

Cane Hill is an American heavy metal band formed in New Orleans, Louisiana in 2011. The band consists of vocalist Elijah Witt, guitarist James Barnett, bass guitarist Ryan Henriquez, and percussionist Devin Clark. In 2015, the band signed to Rise Records, releasing their debut EP, Cane Hill. They released their debut full-length studio album, Smile, on July 15, 2016. On January 19, 2018, their sophomore album Too Far Gone, was released, again via Rise Records. "Too Far Gone" reached number 1 on Billboards Heatseakers Chart.
