The Central American and Caribbean Games are a multi-sport regional championship event, held quadrennial, typically in the middle (even) year between Summer Olympics. The games are for 32 countries and five territories in Central America, the Caribbean, Mexico, and the South American Caribbean countries of Colombia, Guyana, Suriname, and Venezuela.
The third Central American and Caribbean Games were held in San Salvador, El Salvador, from 16 March to 5 April 1935. The games featured 741 athletes from nine nations which competed in fourteen sports.
The tenth Central American and Caribbean Games were held in San Juan, Puerto Rico, from July 11 to July 25, 1966. These games were one of the largest ever with a total number of 1,689 athletes from eighteen participating nations.
The 19th Central American and Caribbean Games were held in San Salvador, El Salvador from November 22 to December 8, 2002 and included 4,301 competitors from 31 nations, competing in 32 sports. The main stadium for these championships was the Estadio Nacional Flor Blanca. For political reasons, Cuba decided to boycott the event. Squash made its debut at the Central American and Caribbean Games.
Javier Arturo López is a Mexican professional baseball pitcher for the Diablos Rojos del México of the Mexican League. He has previously played in Major League Baseball (MLB) for the San Diego Padres.

Yoanner Negrín is a professional baseball pitcher for the Leones de Yucatán of the Mexican League. He was signed by the Chicago Cubs as an undrafted free agent on July 25, 2011, and began his professional career with the Arizona League Cubs. In 2012, he spent most of the season on loan to the Mexican League and pitched in 24 games for the Olmecas de Tabasco. He played for the Spain national baseball team in the 2013 World Baseball Classic.
Rainel Rosario is a Dominican-Mexican professional baseball outfielder for the Bravos de León of the Mexican League. He has previously played in Nippon Professional Baseball (NPB) for the Hiroshima Toyo Carp, and in the Chinese Professional Baseball League (CPBL) for the Uni-President Lions.
Nikté Alejandra Sotomayor Ovando is a Guatemalan badminton player. She won the bronze medals at the 2019 Pan American Games in the women's singles, and at the 2021 Pan Am Championships in the women's doubles. Sotomayor will representing her country to compete at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, as the first ever Guatemalan female badminton player to compete at the Olympic Games.
The 2023 Central American and Caribbean Games, also known as the 24th Central American and Caribbean Games and commonly known as San Salvador 2023, was the 24th edition of the Central American and Caribbean Games, a quadrennial sports multi-sport event which was held from 23 June to 8 July 2023 in San Salvador, El Salvador.
Badminton competition at the 2002 Central American and Caribbean Games took place between 19–30 November in San Salvador, El Salvador. It was the second appearance for badminton at the Games. There were 48 athletes from 9 different countries competed in five events.
Irving Alexis Wilson is a Mexican professional baseball catcher for the Tigres de Quintana Roo of the Mexican League. He signed with the St. Louis Cardinals as an international free agent in 2014. Wilson is listed at 5 feet 10 inches (1.78 m) and 200 pounds (91 kg) and bats and throws right handed.
Baseball competitions at the 2023 Pan American Games in Santiago, Chile are scheduled to be held from October 18 to 28. The venue for the competition is the Baseball and Softball Center, located in Cerillos, a suburb of Santiago.
The badminton competition at the 2023 Central American and Caribbean Games will be held in San Salvador, El Salvador from 25 to 30 July at the Coliseo Complejo El Polvorín. It was the seventh appearance for badminton at the Games.
The following is the qualification system and qualified athletes, countries and teams for the Baseball at the 2023 Central American and Caribbean Games competitions. As the host nation, El Salvador qualifies a team with 24 athletes automatically. The WBSC ranking determined the next four as of the December 31, 2022 release: Cuba, Dominican Republic, Mexico, and Venezuela. The top two non-qualified finishers of the Caribbean Baseball Cup, Bahamas 2022 (COCABE) will receive their quota automatically, which are Puerto Rico and Curaçao. The highest non-qualified finisher of the 2023 Centroamericano de Beisbol received the last slot, which is Nicaragua.
The bowling competition at the 2023 Central American and Caribbean Games will be held in San Salvador, El Salvador from 28 June to 4 July at the Villa Cari.
Handball competition at the 2023 Central American and Caribbean Games are scheduled to be held from 24 June to 7 July 2023. The venue for the competition is the Multigimnasio Don Bosco located in Soyapango.
Fernando Villegas Luna is a Mexican professional baseball outfielder for the Saraperos de Saltillo of the Mexican League. Villegas played in the minor leagues for the Pittsburgh Pirates organization and has represented Mexico at the 2023 Central American and Caribbean Games and 2023 Pan American Games.
Norberto Obeso González is a Mexican professional baseball outfielder for the Leones de Yucatán of the Mexican League. Obeso played in the minor leagues for the Toronto Blue Jays organization and has represented Mexico at the 2018 U-23 Baseball World Cup, 2023 Central American and Caribbean Games and 2023 Pan American Games.
