The Central American and Caribbean Games are a multi-sport regional championship event, held quadrennial, typically in the middle (even) year between Summer Olympics. The games are for 32 countries in Central America, the Caribbean, Mexico, and the South American Caribbean countries of Colombia, Guyana, Suriname, and Venezuela.
The second Central American and Caribbean Games were held in Havana, Cuba from 15 March to 5 April 1930. The event featured 596 athletes from nine nations, competing in ten sports. Women participated in the event for the first time.
The third Central American and Caribbean Games were held in San Salvador, El Salvador, from 16 March to 5 April 1935. The games featured 741 athletes from nine nations which competed in fourteen sports.
The tenth Central American and Caribbean Games were held in San Juan, Puerto Rico, from July 11 to July 25, 1966. These games were one of the largest ever with a total number of 1,689 athletes from eighteen participating nations.
The Central American and Caribbean Junior Championships is a junior athletics competition held between the nations of Central America and the Caribbean Islands promoted by the Central American and Caribbean Athletic Confederation (CACAC). It is divided into the Junior B Central American and Caribbean Junior Championships held since 1978 and the Junior A Central American and Caribbean Junior Championships held since 1974. The Junior A category was open for girls and boys aged 17–20 until 2010. and for girls and boys aged 18–20 starting in the year 2012. The Junior B category was open for girls and boys aged 14–16 until 2010. and for girls and boys aged 14–17 starting in the year 2012.

Yoanner Negrín is a professional baseball player who is currently with the Leones de Yucatán of the Mexican Baseball League. In 2012, he spent most of the season on loan to the Mexican League and pitched in 24 games for the Olmecas de Tabasco. The following is the qualification system and qualified athletes, countries and teams for the Baseball at the 2023 Central American and Caribbean Games competitions. As the host nation, El Salvador qualifies a team with 24 athletes automatically. The WBSC ranking determined the next four as of the December 31, 2022 release: Cuba, Dominican Republic, Mexico, and Venezuela. The top two non-qualified finishers of the Caribbean Baseball Cup, Bahamas 2022 (COCABE) will receive their quota automatically, which are Puerto Rico and Curaçao. The highest non-qualified finisher of the 2023 Centroamericano de Beisbol received the last slot, which is Nicaragua.
The bowling competition at the 2023 Central American and Caribbean Games will be held in San Salvador, El Salvador from 28 June to 4 July at the Villa Cari.
The weightlifting competition at the 2023 Central American and Caribbean Games was held in San Salvador, El Salvador from 24 to 27 June at the Gimnasio Nacional José Adolfo Pineda.
The men's football tournament at the 2023 Central American and Caribbean Games is being held in Santa Tecla from 28 June to 6 July.
