Basil Mohammad Ramzan Akram (born 23 February 1993) is an English former first-class cricketer.
Akram was born at Waltham Forest in February 1993. He was educated at Brentwood School,before matriculating to Loughborough University. [1] Having represented Essex at youth level,Akram made his debut in first-class cricket for Loughborough MCCU against Sussex at Hove in 2014,with him claiming the wicket of England Test cricketer Matt Prior. [2] He made his second first-class appearance for Loughborough the following season,against Hampshire. [3] In September 2014,Akram signed a development contract with Hampshire for the 2015 season. [4] He would make one senior appearance for Hampshire,playing in a List A one-day match against Yorkshire at the Rose Bowl in the 2014 Royal London One-Day Cup. [5] In this match,he was dismissed for a single run by Adil Rashid and bowled two wicketless overs,conceding 24 runs. [6] At the end of the 2015 season,Akram was one of three players (the others being Joe Gatting and Tom Barber) who were released by Hampshire as their contracts had expired. [7]
Following his release by Hampshire,he continued to play for Loughborough MCCU,having a successful season in 2016. Against Surrey,he recorded his maiden first-class century with a score of 160, [8] and followed this up with an unbeaten 100 against Kent,sharing in a 130 runs partnership for the 8th wicket with Sam Grant (52). [9] He played his final season of first-class cricket for Loughborough in 2017,making two appearances against Leicestershire and Northamptonshire, [3] taking his career best bowling figures of 5 for 54 against Leicestershire. [10] In six first-class matches,Akram scored 348 runs at an average of exactly 58. [11] With the ball,he took 17 wickets at a bowling average of 34.82. [12] As of 2019,Akram was playing club cricket for Potterne Cricket Club in Wiltshire. [13]

The Brush Ground was a cricket ground in Loughborough,Leicestershire. Owned by the Brush Electrical Machines Company and used by the company cricket team,it was used as an outground by Leicestershire. They first played there in a first-class match against Hampshire in the 1953 County Championship. Leicestershire played there at least once a year until 1965,playing sixteen first-class matches. The ground was later purchased by Leicestershire County Council in 2017,with the ground redeveloped for residential purposes. The sports club moved to new premises three–times the size Nanpantan Road in Loughborough.

Frank Henry Vigar was an English cricketer who played first-class cricket for Essex County Cricket Club between 1938 and 1954. A right-handed batsman,and leg break bowler,Vigar served as an all-rounder with 8,858 runs at 26.28 and 241 wickets at 37.90. From his rained-off debut in 1938,Vigar went on to play 257 matches for his county. His greatest success came in the "golden summer" of 1947,where he scored 1,735 runs and took 64 wickets. A partnership with Peter Smith of 218 for the final wicket remains an Essex record.

Pakistan fast bowler Wahab Riaz joined Kent as their overseas player in June,and another fast bowler,South African Charl Langeveldt,signed as Kent's second overseas player for the Friends Life t20 competition only.

Each county side played one fixture against a MCCU side ahead of the start of the 2017 County Championship. Following Leicestershire's match against Loughborough MCCU,bowler Charlie Shreck was found guilty of using obscene language or gestures. This was Leicestershire's fifth fixed penalty in 12 months,resulting in them being deducted 16 points for the 2017 County Championship season.
