The 1889 Purdue football team was an American football team that represented Purdue University as an independent during the 1889 college football season. The team compiled a 2–1 record in the university's second season fielding an intercollegiate football team. Archaeologist and Harvard alumnus, George Andrew Reisner, was the team's coach. The team opened its season on November 16 with a 34–10 victory over DePauw for the first victory in Purdue football history and the first game played in Lafayette, Indiana. Purdue defeated Wabash the following week, 18–4, and concluded its season on November 29 with a 14–0 loss against Butler. J. M. Sholl was the team captain.

The 1933 Purdue Boilermakers football team was an American football team that represented Purdue University during the 1933 Big Ten Conference football season. In their fourth season under head coach Noble Kizer, the Boilermakers compiled a 6–1–1 record, finished in third place in the Big Ten Conference with a 3–1–1 record against conference opponents, and outscored opponents by a total of 109 to 37. The team lost to Iowa (6–14) and tied with Minnesota (7–7). Dutch Fehring was the team's captain.
The 2016–17 Purdue Boilermakers men's basketball team represented Purdue University in the 2016–17 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. Their head coach was Matt Painter, in his 12th season with the Boilers. The team played their home games in Mackey Arena in West Lafayette, Indiana and were members of the Big Ten Conference. With their win over Indiana on February 28, 2017, Purdue clinched their first Big Ten Championship since 2009, 22nd overall. With Wisconsin's loss on March 2, Purdue clinched an outright championship, their 23rd championship, the most in Big Ten history. They finished the season 27–8, 14–4 in to win the Big Ten regular season championship. In the Big Ten tournament, they lost in the quarterfinals to Michigan. They received an at-large bid to the NCAA tournament as the No. 4 seed in the Midwest Region where they beat Vermont and Iowa State to advance to the Sweet Sixteen. In their first trip to the Sweet Sixteen since 2010, they lost to No. 1-seeded and No. 3-ranked Kansas.
The 1904 Missouri Tigers football team was an American football team that represented the University of Missouri as an independent during the 1904 college football season. The team compiled a 3–6 record and was outscored by its opponents by a combined total of 130 to 50. John McLean was the head coach for the second of three seasons. The team played its home games at Rollins Field in Columbia, Missouri.
During the 2015 Games, the University of Kansas represented the Stars and Stripes and took home the Gold medal.
