Bataan, officially the Province of Bataan, is a province in the Central Luzon region of the Philippines. Its capital is the city of Balanga while Mariveles is the largest town in the province. Occupying the entire Bataan Peninsula on Luzon, Bataan is bordered by the provinces of Zambales and Pampanga to the north. The peninsula faces the South China Sea to the west and Subic Bay to the north-west, and encloses Manila Bay to the east.

It is south of San Fernando, Pampanga and northwest of Manila. Balanga joined the UNESCO Global Network of Learning Cities in 2015.

The Roman Superhighway or Bataan Provincial Highway, formerly known as the Bataan Provincial Expressway, is a 68-kilometer (42 mi), two- to four-lane major highway that connects the municipality of Dinalupihan to the municipality of Mariveles in Bataan, Philippines. The entire road forms part of National Route 301 (N301) of the Philippine highway network.
The Diocese of Balanga is a Latin Church diocese of the Catholic Church in the Philippines, established on March 17, 1975, by Pope Paul VI. The diocese has jurisdiction over the whole province of Bataan, with 38 parishes, 5 diocesan shrines, one minor basilica, chaplaincy, quasi-parish, national shrine and chapel, and 4 vicariates. It has 11 schools as of 2017, with 10 are operated by the diocese's Diocesan Schools of Bataan (DSOB). The Diocesan Shrine and Cathedral-Parish of St. Joseph, Husband of Mary in Aguire Street, Poblacion, Balanga, serves as the seat of the diocese. It is part of the Ecclesiastical Province of San Fernando, Pampanga.
Enrique "Tet" Tuason Garcia Jr. was a Filipino politician who served as the governor of Bataan from 1992 until 1994, and again from 2004 until 2013. He served five non-consecutive terms as a congressman from Bataan's 2nd congressional district. He died during his third stint in the House in 2016.
Bataan National Park is a protected area of the Philippines located in the mountainous interior of Bataan province in the Central Luzon Region. The park straddles the northern half of Bataan Peninsula near its border with Subic Bay Freeport Zone. The park was first established in 1945 under Proclamation No. 24 with an initial area of 31,000 hectares and included portions of the fenced area of Subic Bay Freeport Zone. The park was reduced in 1987 to its present size of 23,688 hectares and is now wholly located in Bataan province. The park encompasses the Bataan towns and cities of Hermosa, Orani, Samal, Abucay, Balanga, Bagac and Morong.
Leonardo "Ding" Banzon Roman is a Filipino politician who was the governor of the province of Bataan. He served the province as its governor for seventeen years from 1986 to 2004, having won a total of four gubernatorial elections following his appointment as officer-in-charge of Bataan during the Presidency of Corazon Aquino.
The Freeport Area of Bataan (FAB), formerly Bataan Export Processing Zone (BEPZ) and Bataan Economic Zone (BEZ) from June 21, 1969 to June 30, 2010, is a special economic zone in Mariveles, Bataan, Philippines. It was envisioned by Congressman Pablo Roman, Sr., a representative from Bataan, who authored Republic Act 5490 designating the said location as the first free trade zone in the Philippines. It is also the second freeport zone in the province since June 30, 2010, after Subic Special Economic and Freeport Zone in Hermosa and Morong.
Bataan's 1st congressional district is one of the three congressional districts of the Philippines in the province of Bataan. It has been represented in the House of Representatives since 1987. The district consists of municipalities in northeastern Bataan, namely Abucay, Hermosa, Orani and Samal. The northern municipalities of Dinalupihan and Morong were once part of the district until these were reassigned to the third district effective 2022. It is currently represented in the 19th Congress by Geraldine Roman of the Lakas–CMD.

Voters will select candidates for all local positions: a town mayor, vice mayor, and town councilors, as well as members of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan, a vice-governor, a governor, and representatives for the province's three congressional districts in the Philippine House of Representatives.
Bataan's 3rd congressional district is one of the three congressional districts of the Philippines in the province of Bataan. It has been represented in the House of Representatives since 2022. The district consists of western Bataan municipalities of Bagac, Dinalupihan, Mariveles and Morong also bordering Pampanga and Zambales. It is currently represented in the 19th Congress by Ma. Angela Garcia of the NUP, who is the district's first representative since its creation.
Victor de la Cruz Ocampo was a Filipino bishop of the Roman Catholic Church who served as the Bishop of Gumaca from September 3, 2015 until his death on March 16, 2023. He was also the diocesan administrator of Balanga while awaiting for the installation of Socrates Villegas' successor Ruperto Santos as the diocese's bishop from November 4, 2009 to July 8, 2010. Ocampo was the first to be ordained as priest in the Diocese of Balanga on 1977 two years after it founded in 1975, as well as the first from the said diocese to serve as bishop outside its jurisdiction Bataan and the ecclesiastical province of San Fernando, Pampanga.
