Bavil-e Olya (Persian : باويل عليا‎, also Romanized as Bāvīl-e ‘Olyā)^[1] is a village in Bavil Rural District, in the Central District of Osku County, East Azerbaijan Province, Iran. At the 2006 census, its population was 542, in 189 families.^[2]

Persian, also known by its endonym Farsi, is one of the Western Iranian languages within the Indo-Iranian branch of the Indo-European language family. It is primarily spoken in Iran, Afghanistan, and Tajikistan, Uzbekistan and some other regions which historically were Persianate societies and considered part of Greater Iran. It is written right to left in the Persian alphabet, a modified variant of the Arabic script.

Bavil Rural District is a rural district (dehestan) in the Central District of Osku County, East Azerbaijan Province, Iran. At the 2006 census, its population was 23,318, in 6,801 families; excluding Sahand, the population was 9,708, in 2,879 families. The rural district has 6 villages.
