The state of Andhra Pradesh has a coastline of 970 km2 (370 sq mi) and hence, there exist many beaches. The seacoast extends along the Bay of Bengal from Srikakulam district to Nellore district. [1]

The state tourism board APTDC promotes tourism and develops infrastructure in tourist destinations. APTDC maintains certain water sports facilities. The tourism board maintains Haritha Beach Resort at most of the beaches for promoting tourism. [2]

Among the beaches present in the state, there are beaches in almost every district, with Visakhapatnam district having many. Rushikonda Beach is 8 km from the port city of Visakhapatnam. RK Beach, Lawson's Bay, Tenneti, Sagarnagar beaches etc., attracts many tourists to the city of Visakhapatnam. The beaches are a popular location to celebrate Holi. [3] The beach of Bheemunipatnam has relics of the Dutch rulers with many dilapidated forts and monuments and has divine presence. It lies at the opening of the Gosthani River.

Uppada Beach, located 5 km from Kakinada has a wide and shallow beach. Vodarevu Beach is near Chirala town in Bapatla district. Nellore district, which is more famous for its port, has Krishnapatnam Beach and Mypadu Beach. Motupalle Beach is in Prakasam district. [3]

Kalingapatnam Beach, which has a Buddhist Stupa and a light house, is located in Kalingapatnam of Srikakulam district and Baruva Beach in Srikakulam district an oldest beach in Andhra Pradesh . The State Government is promoting the development of this area as a tourist destination. The roads end in the bed of the sea shore and hence, the beach is also referred as the Open Road Sea. [3]

Other beaches are Perupalem Beach (Narasapuram) in West Godavari district, Manginapudi Beach (Machilipatnam) in Krishna district, Suryalanka Beach in Bapatla district, Mypadu Beach, koduru beach in Nellore district.

Coastal Andhra is a region in the state of Andhra Pradesh, India. It was part of Madras State before 1953 and Andhra State from 1953 to 1956. According to the 2011 census, it has an area of 91,915 square kilometres (35,489 sq mi) which is 57.99% of the total state area and a population of 34,193,868 which is 69.20% of Andhra Pradesh state population. This area includes the coastal districts of Andhra Pradesh on the Circar Coast between the Eastern Ghats and the Bay of Bengal, from the northern border with Odisha to Tirupati district in the South. Amaravati, the capital of Andhra Pradesh also falls under Coastal Andhra region.

Vizianagaram is a city and the headquarters of Vizianagaram district in the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh. Mypadu is a village in Indukurupeta Mandal of Nellore district in the state of Andhra Pradesh, India. This is located at 25 Kilometers from Nellore City. The beach here is a tourism spot and many people visit this during holidays and weekends

Andhra Pradesh is well connected with various destinations in India, as well as other countries. It has road, rail, airways. With a long coast of Bay of Bengal and many sea ports, it flourishes in sea trade as well. The state has one of the largest railway junctions at Vijayawada and Visakhapatnam Port being one of the largest cargo handling seaport.

Mypadu Beach

Mypadu Beach is located on the west coast of Bay of Bengal, at a distance of 25 km (16 mi) from Tirupathi District in Andhra Pradesh. The beach is maintained by the state tourism board, APTDC. The beach provides fishing opportunities for the local fishermen, and access to cruises for the tourists. The Andhra Pradesh Tourism Development Corporation (APTDC), is taking certain measures to promote Mypadu Beach as a tourist destination by setting up recreational activities such as water sports and development of resorts.

Kalingapatnam Beach is located on the coast of Kalingapatnam, where Vamsadhara River empties into Bay of Bengal. It is located at a distance of 30 km from Srikakulam in Srikakulam district of the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh. Kalingapatnam Beach has been recognized by the State Government, with the state tourism board APTDC promoting it as a tourist destination. As it was an ancient harbor, it is equipped with a lighthouse where exporting of goods such as perfumes and textiles took place, before being closed during British rule. The beach is also known as Open Road Sea, due to the road ending in the sea shore bed.

Coastline of Andhra Pradesh

The Coastline of Andhra Pradesh is located on the southeast coast of Indian Peninsula, and forms a part of Northern Circars, with waters of Bay of Bengal. It has the second longest coastline with a length of 975 km (606 mi), next to Gujarat. The coastal corridor consists of several ports, harbours, vast stretches of sandy beaches, wildlife and bird sanctuaries, fresh water lakes, estuaries etc.

Rushikonda Beach

Rushikonda Beach located in Visakhapatnam on the coast of Bay of Bengal in the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh. The beach is maintained by the state tourism board, APTDC.

South Coast Railway Zone (SCoR) has been announced as the newest railway zone of the Indian Railways and is headquartered at Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh. The formal notification for operationalization of this Zone is yet to be issued.
