Beas Airport is a civil aerodrome located in Amritsar, Punjab in India. [3] The airport is the main base of private jets of Radha Soami and used exclusively for their personal travel. As of now, the airport does not serve any scheduled flight operations. The nearest airport to Beas Airport is Sri Guru Ram Dass Jee International Airport, the primary airport serving Amritsar. [4]

The Airport is spread over an 497,214 m2 and perimeter length of 6043 metre. [5]

Future Plans

There are plans to start scheduled flight operations from the airport in future. Ministry of Civil Aviation has identified Beas airport under its UDAN-Regional Connectivity Scheme. The airlines would be permitted to run short flights of less than 1 hour on these routes and the fare has been capped at Rs. 2500, in order to promote regional connectivity scheme. [6]

Satellite Airport

Due to the fast pace of growing aviation industry in India, it is projected that over 31 cities will need 2nd airport by 2040. Beas Airport can act as a 'satellite airport' or 'second airport' serving Amritsar after SGRDJ-Amritsar International Airport. [7]

Ude Desh ka Aam Naagrik, known by its acronym UDAN is a regional airport development program of the Government of India and part of the Regional Connectivity Scheme (RCS) of upgrading under-serviced air routes. Its goal is to make air travel affordable and improve economic development in India. At the beginning of the scheme, out of a total of 486 airports, 406 were under-serviced airports and only 27 were well-served airports; out of 97 non-RCS airports only 12 were operational airports; out of 18 participating airports under-served regional operational airports with regular fixed-wing scheduled flights. The UDAN scheme was created to add to this number by expediting the development and operationalization of India's potential target of nearly 425 unserved, under-served, and mostly underdeveloped regional airports with regularly scheduled flights. However, several issues and criticisms of its poor infrastructure, dominance by larger airlines, degradation of regional airlines, and slow implementation have plagued the scheme.

Darbhanga Airport is a domestic airport and an Indian Air Force Station, serving Darbhanga, Bihar, India. It is located just at the outskirts of the city near the NH-105 and NH-57 highways, which passes through Darbhanga. The airport is operated by the Airports Authority of India (AAI). The foundation stone for the airport was laid by the then Chief Minister of Bihar, Nitish Kumar, and the then Civil Aviation Minister, Suresh Prabhu, in the presence of the State Civil Aviation Minister, Jayant Sinha, on 24 December 2018. IndiaOne Air is an Indian regional airline based in Ahmedabad. The airline began operations in August 2022 with a focus on providing regional connectivity between tier 2 and 3 cities in India.It is the first scheduled airline in India to operate single-engine aircraft.
