Bekal Airport is a proposed airport to be constructed at Periya, near Bekal, Kerala.

History

In 2016, the Government of Kerala has appointed Cochin International Airport Limited to undertake the Bekal Airstrip project. [1]

Under the UDAN 4 scheme, the Ministry of Civil Aviation (India) gave preliminary approval to the Bekal Airstrip project in 2019. [2] The airport would spread across 80 acres of land at Kanniyamkundu, 7 km from Periya. [3]

The Airports Authority of India will develop the infrastructure and operate the airport. [3]

Ayodhya Airport, officially known as Maryada Purushottam Shri Ram International Airport, is an under-construction international airport which will serve the cities of Ayodhya and Faizabad in the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh. The airport is located adjacent to NH-27 and NH-330 at Naaka, Faizabad in Ayodhya district. The Government changed the name of the airport after Lord Shri Ram in 2021. The State Government signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Airports Authority of India (AAI) in February 2014 for the development of the airport.

In the north, it borders Kasaragod taluk; in south, the Kannur District; in the east, Vellarikundu taluk; and in the west, the Arabian sea. With an area of 900.3 km2, it was the smaller of the two taluks. Then Hosdurg bifurcated into Vellarikund and Hosdurg taluks in 2013 for ease of administration. Kanhangad and Nileshwaram are the municipalities within the taluk. Hosdurg is a kilometer south of Kanhangad town, the latter being the taluk headquarters. Other major settlements include Trikarpur, Cheruvathur and Udma. Bekal Fort tourism is situated in the taluk.

Jeypore Airport, also known as Jayapur Airport, is a domestic airport serving the cities of Jeypore and Koraput in Odisha, India. It is located 3 km (1.9 mi) north-west of the city of Jeypore in Koraput District. The airstrip was constructed in 1962 along with the establishment of a Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) factory nearby at Sunabeda. In the 1980s, Vayudoot operated a daily Bhubaneswar-bound flight via Visakhapatnam. Now, the new low-cost regional airline, IndiaOne Air, operates from the airport to Bhubaneswar and Vishakapatnam.

Kerala Seaplane was a commercial seaplane service promoted by Kerala Tourism Infrastructure Limited in the Indian state of Kerala. It was launched on 2 June 2013 at Kollam with the inaugural flight being operated by Kairali Aviation. However, commercial operations could not start due to opposition from the local fishing community. The Kerala Government was keen on restarting regular operations of the project in 2014. The service was to be the first such service in mainland India, and the second in India after Jal Hans, which operates seaplanes in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands. Work on the Kerala seaplane project began at the end of July, 2012 and has been praised for being one of the fastest projects to be completed in Kerala.

Kuppam Airport is a public airport under construction at Kuppam, in the state of Andhra Pradesh, India. The greenfield airport will be built by the Infrastructure Corporation of Andhra Pradesh Limited. The airport is to handle Passengers and cargo operations. The project site is located at Shantipuram mandal, about 25 km (16 mi) from the proposed eight-lane Chennai–Bangalore Expressway, and will be built at an estimated cost of 100 crore in 1,000 acres (4.0 km2).

Waterways have always been an important mode of transport in Kerala. The total length of navigable route in Kerala was 1,900 kilometres and the navigable rivers constitute about 54 per cent of the waterways. The 41 West-flowing rivers together with the backwaters are an integrated part of the inland navigation system in Kerala. In Kerala water transportation through these channels are mainly small distant passenger services, informal country boats, freight transportation to PSU's such as Fertilisers and Chemicals Travancore, Kochi etc.
