The Belgian Eerste Klasse (Dutch) or Division 1 (French) is the name of the professional handball league of Belgium.

Competition Format

The season begins with a tournament between the six teams who don't participate at the BeNe League. The first two teams join the teams from the BeNe League and they are separated in two play-off groups while the four others teams from the opening tournament participate to the play-down.

The North Sea Cup was a short-lived hockey league that temporarily succeeded the Dutch Eredivisie from 2010-2012. HVV Den Haag won this year's championship by beating Vitesse Arnhem and Willem II.

The Netherlands Football League Championship 1918–1919 was contested by 52 teams participating in five divisions. The national champion would be determined by a play-off featuring the winners of the eastern, northern, southern and two western football divisions of the Netherlands. AFC Ajax won this year's championship by beating Go Ahead, AFC, Be Quick 1887 and NAC.

The Netherlands Football League Championship 1925–1926 was contested by 50 teams participating in five divisions. The national champion would be determined by a play-off featuring the winners of the eastern, northern, southern and two western football divisions of the Netherlands. SC Enschede won this year's championship by beating MVV Maastricht, Feijenoord, Stormvogels and Be Quick 1887.

The Eredivisie was, during its existence, the only professional ice hockey league in the Netherlands and the highest level of competition organized by the Nederlandse IJshockey Bond. Formed in 1945 and playing continuously since 1964, the league mainly featured Dutch teams, although in some seasons certain Belgian teams competed. The league featured a mix of Dutch, European and overseas players. The winner of the Eredivisie was crowned the Dutch National Champion and represented the Netherlands in the IIHF Continental Cup. In 2015, with most of its teams facing financial problems and its top team, Tilburg Trappers, joining the German Oberliga, the Eredivise was suspended with the remaining teams joining the BeNe League.

2020–21 Eerste Klasse was an Eerste Klasse season. The teams were near-identical to the 2019–20 Eerste Klasse season, after the COVID-19 pandemic in the Netherlands caused the KNVB to decide that there would be no relegation and promotion following the previous season. A few teams promoted anyway to the Hoofdklasse and Eerste Klasse.
