Bertrand Vili

Bertrand Vili (born 6 September 1983) is a French former track and field athlete who competed in the discus throw. He represented France at the 2009 World Championships in Athletics and was a silver medallist at the 2005 Jeux de la Francophonie. [1] He was a double shot put/discus gold medallist at the 2001 South Pacific Mini Games and also won javelin throw silver. [2] He won the gold medal in the discus at the 2007 Pacific Games in a games record of 58.31 m. [3] He successfully defended that title four years later at the 2011 Pacific Games, held in his native New Caledonia. [4] He has a personal best of 63.66 m (208 ft 10+14 in) and is the New Caledonian national record holder.

He won three straight national titles at the French Athletics Championships from 2007 to 2009. [5] He has also won at the Australian Athletics Championships (2009) and won a shot put and two discus titles at the New Zealand Athletics Championships between 2002 and 2004. [6]

In 2006 he wrote off his car in an accident while narrowly beneath the drink-drive limit. He was married to fellow athlete Valerie Adams from 2004 to 2010, with Adams citing Vili's drinking as a cause of their marital breakdown in her autobiography. [7] His cousin Laurent Vili is a former shot putter and rugby player. [8]

Stevens qualified for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics and threw 58.77m in the Women's dicus throw. This was not a sufficient distance to qualify her for the final.

In 2012, he defended his title at the 2012 World Junior Championships.

At the 1995 Pacific Ocean Games, the athletics events were held at the Estadio Olímpico Pascual Guerrero in Cali, Colombia from June 24 to July 2. A total of 31 events were contested, of which 14 by male and 17 by female athletes. The athletics competition did not attract many of the highest level athletes from the Pacific Rim countries and the host nation athletes were foremost among in the medallists. Colombia topped the medal table with 14 gold medals and 41 medals overall. The United States won the next highest number of gold medals, with four, while Chile had the next highest medal total, with ten.

David Lorne Steen is a Canadian former track and field athlete who specialised in the shot put. He was a two-time gold medallist in the event at the Commonwealth Games in 1966 and 1970, breaking games records both times. He had won the bronze medal at the 1962 event. His personal record was 19.21 m, set in 1970.

Lynn Graham is an American former track and field athlete who specialized in the shot put. Graham was the Pan American Games gold medalist in 1971. She won six national titles in the shot put and one in the discus. Her lifetime personal record is 16.18 m, set in Garden Grove, California on May 28, 1971.

Mourad Mahour Ahmed Bacha is an Algerian former track and field athlete who competed in the decathlon and javelin throw. Bacha was among the foremost African and Arab decathletes in the 1980s and early 1990s.

Oto Yanovich Grigalka was a Latvian track and field athlete who competed in the shot put and discus throw. He represented the Soviet Union at the Summer Olympics in 1952 and 1956. The 1990 UK Athletics Championships was the national championship in outdoor track and field for the United Kingdom held at Cardiff Athletics Stadium, Cardiff. It was the first time that the event was held in the Welsh capital. Strong winds affected several of the sprint races and jumps on the programme. A women's triple jump was contested for the first time.

The South Pacific Athletics Championships were an international athletics competition between island nations of the South Pacific Ocean. The championships was contested on three occasions: it was first held in 1976, had its second edition in 1978, then its final edition in 1984. Ten nations won medals at the competition during its lifetime. The competition emerged as a single-sport championship following in the footsteps of the region's multi-sport event established in 1963: the South Pacific Games. The athletics competition declined with the emergence of the South Pacific Mini Games in 1981, which was a smaller-scale event with athletics as its core sport.

Eden Cherrelle Francis is an English female athlete who competes in the shot put and discus. She has personal best distances of 17.24 metres and 59.78 metres respectively in these events.
