Bevan Davies is an American musician best known as the drummer for the groups Still Rain, playing in the band Gibraltar right out of high school. [1] Madfly, [1] Comes with the Fall [2] and Danzig [3] while he is currently a member of MonstrO, [4] a group he formed with former members of Bloodsimple and Torche. [4] Previously, Davies had also been a touring drummer for Jerry Cantrell, [2] Static-X, [5] Engelbert Humperdinck, [1] Cardboard Vampyres, [6] The Mercy Clinic, Invitro [7] and Bloodsimple. [8]

Biography

Early career, Still Rain and Mouthpiece (1990–1996)

Bevan Davies began his musical career drumming for Still Rain in the early 1990s. [1] When the band disbanded in 1995, [1] Davies joined his former Still Rain bandmates in Mouthpiece, recording an EP in 1996 before departing the group. [1]

Madfly, Comes with the Fall and Jerry Cantrell (1996–present)

In 1996, Davies joined Madfly, [1] [9] in Atlanta, Georgia, with singer William DuVall, guitarist Nico Constantine and bassist Jeffery Blount. After releasing two albums, Get the Silver and White Hot in the Black , [2] the band became Comes with the Fall [9] in 1999 [2] with Adam Stanger replacing Jeffery Blount on bass. [2]

The group recorded their self-titled album in Atlanta, [10] a year later, before relocating to Los Angeles, California. [2] Their self-titled album was released the same year through DuVall's DVL Records. [2]

In 2001, Comes with the Fall were announced as the main support, along with Swarm, for Jerry Cantrell's solo tour. [11] When Cantrell's then solo bandmates, bassist Robert Trujillo and drummer Mike Bordin, are unavailable for shows, he enlisted Stanger and Davies to perform as his backing band. [11] They toured with Cantrell throughout 2001. [12]

The Year is One , the band's second album, was released later in the year to positive reviews. [12] The following year, Comes with the Fall were announced to be Cantrell's opening and backing band for his tour in support of Degradation Trip , Cantrell's second solo album. [2] [9] [13] [14] Comes with the Fall toured with Cantrell throughout 2002, [10] while they released a live album, titled Live 2002 , [2] the same year. A live DVD Live Underground 2002 [2] towards the end of the 2003 [12] and they planned to record and release a new album by 2004. [12]

In February 2007, the band announced their first tour dates in three-and-a-half years, performing material from their EP, The Reckoning as well as their unreleased album. [15] They released the album, Beyond the Last Light , the same year. [2]

Danzig (2003–2005, 2010)

During a Comes with the Fall tour in 2003, Davies left the group to join Danzig, [3] with drummer Brian Hunter doing double duty performing with Dropsonic and Comes with the Fall. [12] Though Davies was announced as an official member of Danzig, [3] he would still be a member of Comes with the Fall with DuVall stating that his departure was only temporary. [12]

Davies recorded an album with Danzig in 2004, [16] titled Circle of Snakes , which was released on August 31 the same year. [17] He continued to tour with the group, playing at the reunion shows of Glenn Danzig and Doyle Wolfgang von Frankenstein, before departing in 2005. [1] Davies rejoined Danzig in 2010 for the Blackest Of The Black Tour.

MonstrO (2010–2012)

In 2010, Davies formed MonstrO with former Bloodsimple bassist Kyle Sanders, [4] former Torche guitarist Juan Montoya [4] and vocalist Charlie Suarez. [4] They posted two songs for streaming, titled "Anchors Up!" [4] and "April", [4] on their MySpace [4] and made their live debut a Lenny's bar in Atlanta. [18] MonstrO released their debut album, produced by William DuVall, on Vagrant Records in 2011 and toured the United States with Kyuss Lives!, Black Tusk, The Sword, Clutch, Hellyeah, Kyng, Danzig and Alice In Chains.

Solo Album 2016

Bevan Davies released a solo album in 2016 with help from friends within the music industry. The project was produced by Jeff Hoglen and features artists such as Nathan Utz (Formerly of Lynch Mob and current singer for Resist and Bite), William Duvall (Alice in Chains), Roy Cathey (The Fifth), Brent Hinds (Mastodon), Jeremy Asbrock (Gene Simmons, Ace Frehley Band), Philip Shouse (ACCEPT, Ace Frehley, Gene Simmons), Tuk Smith (The Biters), and Noah Pine (solo artist), and Daniel Silvestri (ACCEPT, Wolf Hoffmanns “Headbangers Symphony”)

Other work

In 2004, Davies toured as Engelbert Humperdinck's drummer during a US tour [1] while in 2005, Davies joined Cardboard Vampyres, a cover band formed by Jerry Cantrell and Billy Duffy [6] before joining The Mercy Clinic, formed by Patrick Lachman. [19]

Davies temporarily joined Static-X, filling in for injured drummer Nick Oshiro in 2007, [5] as well as Invitro the same year, filling in for Bennie Cancino on the Family Values Tour. [1] [7] He would later join Bloodsimple [8] as drummer on their tour of the US, UK and Australia. [1] In 2009, Davies rejoined Static-X for an Australian tour and became a member of Wayne Static's solo band in 2013 for Static's final United States tour. Davies recorded drums in 2009 for Lady Gaga's performance on Much Music's Award show. In 2014, Davies recorded drums for a W.A.S.P. song to be included on the next W.A.S.P. album.

Alice in Chains American rock band

Alice in Chains is an American rock band from Seattle, Washington, formed in 1987 by guitarist and vocalist Jerry Cantrell and drummer Sean Kinney, who later recruited bassist Mike Starr and lead vocalist Layne Staley. Starr was replaced by Mike Inez in 1993. William DuVall joined the band in 2006 as co-lead vocalist and rhythm guitarist, replacing Staley, who died in 2002. Danzig's openly satanic lyrics and image stirred a degree of controversy. After a major hit with a live version of its 1988 song "Mother", the band experimented with industrial music but later returned to heavy metal. To date, Danzig has released 12 studio albums, two EPs, one live album, and one compilation album.

Jerry Cantrell American guitarist, singer and songwriter

Jerry Fulton Cantrell Jr. is an American guitarist, singer and songwriter. He is best known as the founder, lead guitarist, co-lead vocalist, and main songwriter of rock band Alice in Chains. The band rose to international fame in the early 1990s during Seattle's grunge movement, and is known for its distinctive vocal style and the harmonized vocals between Cantrell and Layne Staley. Cantrell started to sing lead vocals on Alice in Chains' 1992 EP Sap. After Staley's death in 2002, Cantrell took the role of Alice in Chains' lead singer on most of the songs from the band's post-Staley albums, Black Gives Way to Blue (2009), The Devil Put Dinosaurs Here (2013) and Rainier Fog (2018), with DuVall harmonizing with him in the new songs and singing Staley's vocals in the old songs in live concerts.

<i>Degradation Trip</i> 2002 studio album by Jerry Cantrell

Degradation Trip is the second solo album by Alice in Chains guitarist and vocalist Jerry Cantrell, released on June 18, 2002. It marks his difficult transition from Columbia Records to Roadrunner, and was dedicated to Alice in Chains lead singer Layne Staley, who died two months before the album's release. The title was taken from the song "Solitude", the fifth track from the album. Degradation Trip featured two singles and was well received by critics, faring better than Cantrell's solo debut and bearing stronger resemblance to his work in Alice in Chains. The tracks "Anger Rising" and "Angel Eyes" were released as singles. "Anger Rising" reached No. 10 on Billboard's Mainstream Rock Tracks and stayed on the chart for 18 weeks. The album has sold 100,000 copies in the U.S. as of December 2002. In April 2019, it was ranked No. 21 on Rolling Stone's "50 Greatest Grunge Albums" list. Degradation Trip was released on vinyl for the first time on January 20, 2017, with a limited edition of 1,500 copies on transparent green vinyl.

Sean Kinney American musician

Sean Howard Kinney is an American musician, best known as the drummer and co-founder of the rock band Alice in Chains. Kinney also founded the short-lived supergroup Spys4Darwin, and has collaborated with other artists such as Johnny Cash and Metallica. He played drums for his Alice in Chains bandmate, Jerry Cantrell's first solo album, Boggy Depot (1998). Since 2009, Kinney has been co-owner of the Crocodile club in Seattle. He was a guest drummer on NBC's Late Night with Seth Meyers in September 2018. Kinney has earned nine Grammy Award nominations as a member of Alice in Chains.

William DuVall American musician

William Bradley DuVall is an American musician best known as the current co-lead vocalist and rhythm guitarist for the rock band Alice in Chains. He joined Alice in Chains in 2006, replacing the band's original lead singer, Layne Staley, who died in 2002, and shares vocal duties with guitarist/vocalist Jerry Cantrell. Black Gives Way to Blue is the fourth studio album by the American rock band Alice in Chains, released on September 29, 2009, on the 17th anniversary of the release of their second album, Dirt. It is their first record without original lead singer Layne Staley, who died in 2002, and their first album with new vocalist and rhythm guitarist William DuVall sharing vocal duties with lead guitarist/vocalist Jerry Cantrell, who sings lead vocals on most of the songs. The title track is a tribute to Staley featuring Elton John on piano. This is the first Alice in Chains album released on Virgin Records and their first venture away from Columbia, who handled all of their previous releases. The Devil Put Dinosaurs Here is the fifth studio album by the American rock band Alice in Chains, released on May 28, 2013 through Capitol Records. It is the band's second reunion album. Following a worldwide tour in support of its previous album, Black Gives Way to Blue (2009), Alice in Chains began work on a new album. The making of The Devil Put Dinosaurs Here lasted for more than a year and the release of the album was delayed numerous times. The band entered the studio in July 2011 to start work on their fifth album. During the writing and recording sessions, guitarist and vocalist Jerry Cantrell underwent shoulder surgery, which resulted in the delay of the album. The recording sessions of The Devil Put Dinosaurs Here were completed in December 2012.

Rainier Fog is the sixth studio album by American rock band Alice in Chains, released on August 24, 2018, through BMG, the band's first release on the label. The title was inspired by Mount Rainier, a volcano that overlooks the Seattle-Tacoma metropolitan area, and the title track is a tribute to the Seattle music scene. This is the band's third album with William DuVall sharing lead vocals with Jerry Cantrell, and the first Alice in Chains album in 22 years to be recorded in their hometown of Seattle. The album was partially recorded at Seattle's Studio X, the same studio where the band recorded their 1995 self-titled album. Rainier Fog is also Alice in Chains' third collaboration with producer Nick Raskulinecz, marking their first time recording three full-length albums with the same producer.
