Beverly Denise Chester-Burton (born October 3,1961) is an American politician who has served as a member of the Kentucky House of Representatives since January 1,2023. She represents Kentucky's 44th House district. Outside of politics,she is a teacher in Jefferson County Public Schools. [1] [2]
On November 6,2018,she was elected as the first African-American mayor of Shively,Kentucky,with 97.8% of the vote after serving 10 years on the city council. [3] She was elected on November 8,2022,in the 2022 Kentucky House of Representatives election. She assumed office on January 1,2023.
Chester-Burton was born in 1963 to parents Cozy and Linnes Chester Sr. She graduated from the University of Louisville,Spalding University and Western Kentucky University. [4]
Shively is a home rule-class city in Jefferson County,Kentucky,United States,and a suburb of Louisville within the Louisville Metro government. As of the 2010 census,the city's population was 15,264,reflecting an increase of 107 (+0.7%) from 15,157 in 2000.
