Blake Baker (born July 10, 1982) is an American college football coach. He is the defensive coordinator for Louisiana State University, a position he has held since 2024. He was previously the defensive coordinator at Miami (FL), Louisiana Tech, and Missouri, as well as previously being the linebackers coach at LSU.

Playing career

Baker was a linebacker at Tulane from 2000 to 2004, redshirting the 2000 season. He played 42 career games, racking up 145 tackles, 14 tackles for loss, and six sacks in his college career. [1]

Coaching career

Baker was hired a graduate assistant at Texas in 2010, working under Longhorns defensive coordinator Manny Diaz. [2] He was hired to be the safeties coach at Arkansas State in 2013 on Bryan Harsin's staff. After Harsin departed to accept the head coaching position at his alma mater Boise State in 2014, Baker was hired to be the Broncos director of player personnel. [3] He spent approximately a month there before accepting an assistant coaching position at Louisiana Tech. [4]

Louisiana Tech

Baker was hired to be the safeties coach at Louisiana Tech in 2014, working once again under Manny Diaz. [5] After Diaz left to accept the defensive coordinator position at Mississippi State, Baker was promoted to defensive coordinator in 2015 and also assumed Diaz's role as the linebackers coach. Miami (FL)

Baker was named the defensive coordinator at the University of Miami by head coach Manny Diaz in January 2019. [8] It was announced in January 2021 that Baker would be retained in his defensive coordinator role at the University of Miami, but he would no longer be responsible for defensive play-calling on gamedays as head coach Manny Diaz will now be taking on that responsibility. LSU

On January 29, 2021, Baker joined LSU as linebackers coach and co-defensive coordinator. [10] He was only at LSU for one season as he was not retained by Brian Kelly. [11]

Missouri

On January 20, 2022 he was announced as University of Missouri’s safeties coach. Baker had previously coached with Missouri Head Coach Eliah Drinkwitz at Arkansas State University, where Baker served as safeties coach and Drinkwitz served as Co-OC and running backs coach. [12] After a month on the job, Steve Wilks returned to the NFL, and Baker was promoted to defensive coordinator. [13]

LSU (Second Stint)

On January 6, 2024, Baker was officially announced as the next defensive coordinator at LSU, where he received a $2.5 million-per-year contract that will make him the highest-paid assistant coach in college football. [14] [15]

He was drafted in the sixth round of the 2000 NFL Draft by the Cleveland Browns. Bedell also played for the Miami Dolphins, Washington Redskins, Green Bay Packers, and the Houston Texans. After serving as the offensive line coach at Boise State, Bedell followed head coach Bryan Harsin to Auburn as the tight ends coach. Auburn fired Bedell on October 31, 2022, along with Harsin, offensive coordinator Eric Kiesau, and several other staffers.

The 2010 Middle Tennessee Blue Raiders football team represented Middle Tennessee State University as a member of the Sun Belt Conference during the 2010 NCAA Division I FBS football season. Led by fifth-year head coach Rick Stockstill, the Blue Raiders compiled an overall record 6–7 with a mark of 5–3 in conference play, placing third in the Sun Belt. Middle Tennessee was invited to the GoDaddy.com Bowl, where they lost to the Miami RedHawks, 35–21. The team played home games at Johnny "Red" Floyd Stadium in Murfreesboro, Tennessee.

Manuel Alberto Diaz II is an American football coach who is the head football coach at Duke University. He previously served as the defensive coordinator and linebackers coach at Pennsylvania State University from 2022 to 2023 and as the head football coach at the University of Miami from 2019 to 2021.

Bryan Dale Harsin is an American football coach who was most recently the head coach for the Auburn Tigers. Prior to coaching at Auburn, he coached the Boise State University Broncos from the 2014 season through the 2020 season where he posted a 69–19 overall record. He began his head coaching career at Arkansas State University for the 2013 season. Harsin was the co-offensive coordinator at the University of Texas for two seasons. Before leaving for Texas in 2011, Harsin was an assistant at Boise State for 10 seasons, the last five as offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach.

The team was coached by Dan Mullen, who was in his third season with Mississippi State. The Bulldogs played their home games at Davis Wade Stadium at Scott Field in Starkville, Mississippi and compete in the Western Division of the Southeastern Conference (SEC). They finished the 2011 season with a 7–6 overall play, 2–6 in SEC play, placing fifth in West Division, and were invited for Music City Bowl, where they defeated Wake Forest.

Bradley Dale Peveto is an American football coach. He is a co-defensive coordinator and the linebackers coach at Texas State University and was previously the defensive coordinator at the University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP)from 2021 through 2023. Peveto served as the head football coach at Northwestern State University in Natchitoches, Louisiana from 2009 to 2012, compiling a record of 14–30.

Scott Gregory Hazelton is an American football coach. He was recently the defensive coordinator at Michigan State University. Hazelton was the defensive coordinator and linebackers coach at Kansas State University in 2019 before moving to Michigan State. He was previously the defensive coordinator and linebackers coach at the University of Wyoming in 2017 and 2018 where he led nationally ranked defenses in both seasons, linebackers coach at USC in 2012 and the defensive coordinator of the 2011 FCS National Champions, North Dakota State Bison.
