Bloods is a British television sitcom created by Samson Kayo and Nathan Bryon [2] that premiered on 5 May 2021 on Sky Comedy. [1] [3] The series stars Kayo and Jane Horrocks as South London paramedics, as they deal with emergency medical calls.

Production

Samson Kayo initially created a comedy short for Sky titled New Bloods in 2018. Following its success, the six-episode first series of Bloods was commissioned, with it premiering on 5 May 2021. [5]

The five-episode first half of the second series premiered on 16 March 2022 [4] and the five-episode second half premiered on 1 September 2022. [6]

In October 2022, a third series was announced [7] but the decision was ultimately reversed less than a week later. [8]

Reception

Sean O'Grady of The Independent gave the show five stars, calling it "a magnificent paramedic comedy full of gallows humour". [9] The series received a 100% fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes based on 7 reviews. [10]

Lucy Mangan for The Guardian gave the series three out of five stars, arguing that "the charm of Kayo and Horrocks make the otherwise laugh-free show worth watching" [11]

Bloods was nominated for two Royal Television Society scripted comedy awards, and three BAFTA awards. [12] [13] [14] [15] [8] Series 2 was nominated for the Rose d'Or award in 2022. [16] [17]

Dodger is a British family comedy drama series, inspired by the Artful Dodger from the novel Oliver Twist by Charles Dickens. The series serves as a prequel to the events of Oliver Twist. Samson Kayo is a British actor, producer and writer. He was nominated for the British Academy Television Award for Best Male Comedy Performance in 2018 for the BBC sketch show Famalam (2017–2020). He created, wrote and starred in the Sky One sitcom Bloods (2021–2022), and received a nomination for the same award in 2022. He won the Royal Television Society Programme Awards for Best Male Comedy Performance in the latter role in 2022, having also been nominated in 2019 and 2023. He also created and stars in Sliced (2019–2020), and his other credits include Youngers (2013), Timewasters (2017), and Our Flag Means Death (2022–2023).

Sherwood is a British television crime drama series created and written by James Graham. It stars David Morrissey and is inspired by real life murders in Nottinghamshire, England in 2004. The first episode of the six-episode series aired on BBC One on 13 June 2022. It has been renewed for a second series.

<i>Dont Hug Me Im Scared</i> (TV series) British comedy-horror television series

Don't Hug Me I'm Scared is a 2022 British comedy-horror television series created by Joseph "Joe" Pelling, Rebecca "Becky" Sloan and Baker Terry, and produced by Blink Industries. It was released on All 4 and is based on the web series of the same name.
