Sky Comedy is a British pay television channel owned and operated by Sky, a division of Comcast. It launched on 27 January 2020, [1] [2] replacing Universal TV. [3] It is the first dedicated full-time comedy station in Sky's channel portfolio since the closure of The Comedy Channel in 1992.
Sky Comedy predominantly broadcasts programming imported from the United States, such as from corporate sibling NBC, and premium channels HBO and Showtime (with the rights to the latter expiring at the end of 2021). It also broadcasts classic sitcoms as well as comedy films, live stand-up, and talk shows. [1] [4] From 1 September 2021 onwards, Sky Comedy started airing the comedy output previously shown on Sky One (which was replaced by Sky Showcase and Sky Max). [5]
Sky Comedy launched in Germany, Austria and Switzerland on 1 April 2021. [6] and then closed on 27 September 2023. [7]

Sky One was a British pay television channel operated and owned by Sky Group. Originally launched on 26 April 1982 as Satellite Television, it was Europe's first satellite and non-terrestrial channel. From 31 July 1989, it became Sky One and broadcast exclusively in the United Kingdom and Ireland as British Sky Broadcasting's flagship channel. It existed until 1 September 2021, when it closed down as part of a restructuring with its EPG position taken by Sky Showcase and much of its content library moved to Sky Max.
TruTV is an American basic cable channel owned by Warner Bros. Discovery. The channel primarily broadcasts reruns of comedy, docusoaps and reality shows, with a recent strong primetime focus on live sports.

The channel is primarily dedicated to imported programmes from the United States, and holds the domestic rights to HBO programming until 2025. It also broadcasts many original British produced Sky dramas. It is exclusively available on the Sky satellite TV platform and Sky's Now TV platform. Unlike the other channels from Sky Group, Sky Atlantic is not on Virgin Media. On 15 January 2024, select programming begun being simulcast on Sky Showcase.
Showcase is an Australian premium drama cable and satellite television channel. It was initially part of the Showtime Australia channels and was managed by PMP chief executive officer Peter Rose. In 2007 Rose said Showcase "provides a real home at last for quality drama in Australia, and this list of outstanding event television is just the start". Showcase launched with the Australian TV premieres of Dexter and Australian-made series Satisfaction.
