Bob Payne is an American retired puppeteer and puppet builder. He is also known as Robert Payne and Bobby Payne.
Payne, a native of Washington, D.C., was a college friend of Jim Henson and Jane Henson. He first worked with them on Jim Henson's show Sam and Friends as a backup puppeteer. He even took part in some of Jim Henson's advertising where he was the principal performer of the Mirinda Craver from the Mirinda commercials.
Payne later went on to build several characters for The Muppet Show and other projects where he did occasional puppeteering.
He later received a special credit as a historian in The Muppets: A Celebration of 30 Years .

Sam and Friends is an American live-action and puppet sketch comedy television series and a lead-in to The Tonight Show created by puppeteer Jim Henson and his eventual wife Jane Nebel. It was aired live twice daily as a local series in Washington, D.C., on WRC-TV in black and white, and later color, on weeknights from May 9, 1955, to December 15, 1961. However, most of the original episodes were never recorded, and are considered lost. A few surviving episodes can be viewed at the Paley Center for Media but many can also be found on video websites like YouTube, such as those digitally archived by The Jim Henson Company. Some have been documented by either the Henson Archives or newspaper articles published while the show was still on air.

Earl performed the original Shrek character in a motion-capture development test film for DreamWorks and puppeteered lead characters in Paramount Pictures' Team America: World Police.
