The Muppets Mayhem (Music from the Disney+ Original Series) is the soundtrack to the comedy musical television series The Muppets Mayhem based on the Muppet musical group, Dr. Teeth and the Electric Mayhem. [1] The soundtrack featured original songs written by Grammy-nominated songwriter Linda Perry, [2] who also served as the executive music producer, as well as covers of popular hits as featured in the series. [3] The series features original score composed by Mick Giacchino and produced by his father Michael Giacchino. [4] [5]

The album was preceded by two lead singles: "Can You Picture That?" [6] released at the D23 Expo on September 9, 2022, [7] [8] and "Rock On" released on April 21, 2023. [9] [10] Walt Disney Records released a series soundtrack album digitally and on streaming on May 10, 2023. [11] The soundtrack reached number 1 on the Billboard Kid Albums chart—the first time the Muppets have ever topped a Billboard chart—and peaked at number 10 on the Soundtracks chart, earning 5,000 album-equivalent units in its first week. [12]

Reception

The Muppets Mayhem soundtrack received a positive review from Daps Magic who commented that "The soundtrack for The Muppets Mayhem is a wonderful release that is a lot of fun to listen to and is really well done. It is fun to listen to while working or working out and will definitely make any new or old Muppets fan smile!" [13]

The Electric Mayhem is the debut studio album by Dr. Teeth and the Electric Mayhem that featured the first fourteen tracks from the original soundtrack album. It was released by Walt Disney Records as a vinyl LP on May 12, 2023, two days after the series' premiere. The packaging of the album consisted of a cover art by Matt Taylor and layout by Sean Tejaratchi, and two colored 180-gram vinyl LPs: translucent blue/purple swirl and psychedelic green. [19] [20] The latter was released as an exclusive edition from Target Corporation. [21] The album itself is shown on the season finale "We Will Rock You". [22] [23]

The Muppets Take Manhattan is a 1984 American musical comedy-drama film directed by Frank Oz and the third theatrical film featuring the Muppets. The film stars Muppet performers Jim Henson, Oz, Dave Goelz, Steve Whitmire, Richard Hunt, Jerry Nelson, as well as special appearances by Art Carney, James Coco, Dabney Coleman, Gregory Hines, Linda Lavin and Joan Rivers. Filmed in New York City during the prior summer, it was released theatrically on July 13, 1984, by TriStar Pictures. A fantasy sequence in the film introduced the Muppet Babies, toddler versions of the lead Muppet characters.

"Have a Little Faith in Me" is a song written and performed by John Hiatt that appears on his 1987 album Bring the Family. His version of the song has also appeared on the soundtracks of the movies Look Who's Talking Now (1993), Benny & Joon (1993), Phenomenon (film) (1996), The Theory of Flight (1998), Cake (2005), My Best Friend’s Girl (2008), Love Happens (2009), Father Figures (2017), and Benjie (2017). Live versions were included on 1994's Hiatt Comes Alive at Budokan? and 2005's Live from Austin, TX. The song has been included in all of his greatest hits collections, including 1998's The Best of John Hiatt and Greatest Hits — The A&M Years ’87-’94, 2001’s Anthology, 2003’s 20th Century Masters, and the 2005 box set Chronicles. In 2000 it was proven Jimmy Blankenship originally wrote this song as a gospel song.
