Franklin County is a county located in the U.S. state of Kentucky. As of the 2020 census, the population was 51,541, making it the 2nd least populous capital county in the United States after Hughes County, South Dakota. Its county seat is Frankfort, the state capital. The county was formed in 1795 from parts of Woodford, Mercer and Shelby counties, and was named after the American inventor and statesman Benjamin Franklin. Franklin County is part of the Frankfort, Kentucky Micropolitan Statistical Area. It shares a name with Franklin County in Ohio, where Columbus is located. This makes it one of two pairs of capital cities in counties of the same name, along with Marion Counties in Oregon and Indiana.

Bondurant was one of the most famous drivers to emerge from the Southern California road racing scene in the 1950s, and achieved success in North America and in Europe. His Bob Bondurant School of High Performance Driving has been responsible for training generations of American racing drivers.

The Bob Bondurant School of High Performance Driving was an American performance driving school, specializing in instruction for high performance driving, teen defensive driving, law enforcement and special forces driving, open wheel race car training, Grand Prix road racing, drag racing, go karts, and other courses using the copyrighted Bondurant Method. It was formerly located in Chandler, Arizona at the Wild Horse Pass Motorsports Park.
The siege of Boonesborough was a military engagement which took place in September 1778 during the American Revolutionary War. On September 7, Shawnee chief Blackfish, who was allied to the British, led an attack on the Kentucky settlement of Boonesborough. Months before the battle, Blackfish had captured and adopted Daniel Boone, the founder of Boonesborough. Boone escaped the Shawnees in time to lead the defense of the settlement. Blackfish's siege was unsuccessful and was lifted after eleven days. Boone was then court-martialed by fellow officers who suspected him of harboring Loyalist sympathies. He was acquitted, but soon left the settlement.

Joan Valerie Bondurant (1918–2006) was an American political scientist and former spy for the Office of Strategic Services (OSS) during World War II. She is best known as the author of Conquest of Violence: The Ghandian Philosophy of Conflict (1958), a book on Gandhian political philosophy.
Alexander Lee Bondurant was an American classicist, educator and football coach. Born in Buckingham County, Virginia, he was educated at Hampden–Sydney College and the University of Virginia, followed by further study at the University of Texas and Harvard University, and in Europe, where he studied Greek and Roman ruins. In 1889 he began his career as an instructor of Greek and Latin at the University of Mississippi, becoming head of the classics department in 1894, and the first dean of the graduate school in 1927, retiring as dean emeritus in 1936. He also served as the first football coach at the university in 1893. During his one-season tenure, Bondurant compiled a record of four wins and one loss (4–1).
The Bondurant-Hustin House, located at 104 Castlewood Dr. in Peewee Valley, Kentucky, is a two-story Queen Anne-style house which was built in 1885. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1989.
Brian K. Lohse is an American attorney and politician. A member of the Republican Party, he was elected to the Iowa House of Representatives in 2018, succeeding Zach Nunn in District 45. Prior to his state legislative service, Lohse sat on the city council of Bondurant, Iowa, for eight years.
The 1967 Western Kentucky Hilltoppers football team represented Western Kentucky University as a member of the Ohio Valley Conference (OVC) during the 1967 NCAA College Division football season. Led by Nick Denes in his 11th and final season as head coach, the Hilltoppers compiled and overall record of 7–1–1 with a mark of 5–1–1 in conference play, placing second in the OVC.
Amy Laura Bondurant is an American attorney who served as U.S. Ambassador to the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) from 1997 to 2001. Bondurant was the first woman to represent the United States at the OECD and was also the first woman to serve on the board of Rolls-Royce.
On July 19 and 20, 2018, an unexpected strong tornado outbreak affected Iowa and nearby areas. The event was triggered mostly by three supercells that produced several tornadoes across southeastern Iowa east and southeast of Des Moines. Two of the tornadoes reached EF3 intensity, affecting Pella and Marshalltown. These were the strongest tornadoes to hit Iowa since June 22, 2015, when another EF3 tornado struck near Lovilia. Of the 37 injuries, 13 occurred in Pella, and 23 in Marshalltown, and one the following day in Indiana. The event was also notable due to the Table Rock Lake duck boat accident that killed 17 people and injured 7 others at Table Rock Lake, Missouri.
