A railway platform is an area alongside a railway track providing convenient access to trains. Almost all stations have some form of platform, with larger stations having multiple platforms.
A cross-platform interchange is a type of interchange between different lines at a metro station. The term originates with the London Underground; such layouts exist in other networks but are not commonly so named. In the United States and Canada, it is often referred to as a cross-platform transfer.
The Seoul Metropolitan Subway is a metropolitan railway system consisting of 23 rapid transit, light metro, commuter rail and people mover lines located in northwest South Korea. The system serves most of the Seoul Metropolitan Area including the Incheon metropolis and satellite cities in Gyeonggi province. Yongsan Station is a major railway station in the Yongsan District of Seoul, South Korea. The station adjoins the Yongsan Electronics Market. The station is the terminus for high-speed and long-distance trains on a number of railway lines, including most trains on the Honam Line, its high-speed counterpart, and all trains on the Janghang and Jeolla Lines.
Seoul Subway Line 2, also known as the Circle Line, is a circular line of the Seoul Metropolitan Subway. The line running clockwise is called the "inner circle line" and the counter-clockwise line is called the "outer circle line". This is Seoul's most heavily used line, and consists of the main loop, the Seongsu Branch and the Sinjeong Branch for a total line length of 60.2 km (37.4 mi). The Line 2 loop is the third longest subway loop in the world after Moscow Metro Bolshaya Koltsevaya line and Beijing Subway Line 10. In 2019, Line 2 had an annual ridership of 812 million passengers or 2.2 million passengers per day.

An island platform is a station layout arrangement where a single platform is positioned between two tracks within a railway station, tram stop or transitway interchange. Island platforms are popular on twin-track routes due to economic and land use reasons. They are also useful within larger stations where local and express services for the same direction of travel can be provided from opposite sides of the same platform thereby simplifying transfers between the two tracks. An alternative arrangement is to position side platforms on either side of the tracks. The historical use of island platforms depends greatly upon the location. In the United Kingdom the use of island platforms is relatively common when the railway line is in a cutting or raised on an embankment, as this makes it easier to provide access to the platform without walking across the tracks.
Platform screen doors (PSDs), also known as platform edge doors (PEDs), are used at some train, rapid transit and people mover stations to separate the platform from train tracks, as well as on some bus rapid transit, tram and light rail systems. Primarily used for passenger safety, they are a relatively new addition to many metro systems around the world, some having been retrofitted to established systems. They are widely used in newer Asian and European metro systems, and Latin American bus rapid transit systems.
Seoul Subway Line 9, operated by Seoul Line9 Operation, is a subway line in Seoul, part of the Seoul Metropolitan Subway. The line runs east from Gaehwa station or Gimpo International Airport station along the south bank of the Han River towards VHS Medical Center in Gangdong. In 2019, Line 9 had an annual ridership of 225 million or about 616,000 people per day.
The Shinbundang Line Korean: 신분당선; Hanja: 新盆唐線; literally, New Bundang Line) or DX Line for Dynamic Express Line is a 33.4 km (20.8 mi) long line of the Seoul Metropolitan Subway. It is the world's fifth subway to run completely driverless and the second completely driverless metro line to open in South Korea, after Busan Subway Line 4. It connects Sinsa station and Gwanggyo station in 42 minutes, a feat achieved by being the first line to operate South Korea's next-generation subway car travelling at over 90 km/h (56 mph), with the fastest average speed of any subway line in the country.
AREX is a South Korean airport rail link and commuter rail line that links Incheon International Airport with Seoul Station via Gimpo International Airport. The section between the two airports opened on March 23, 2007, and line was extended to Seoul Station on December 29, 2010. Long-distance Korea Train Express high speed trains started to use the line from June 30, 2014, but discontinued service in March 2018 due to low ridership.
Geumjeong Station is a ground-level metro station on lines 1 and 4 of the Seoul Subway network in South Korea. The station is in Gunpo, a city approximately 15 km (9.3 mi) south of Seoul in Gyeonggi Province, between the cities of Anyang and Suwon. The name means that the land is covered with waves everywhere and that the water wets women's clothes.
Yeonsinnae station is a station on Seoul Subway Line 3 and Seoul Subway Line 6, on the northwest side of Seoul in the urban area of Eunpyeong-gu. Although Yeonsinnae Station had a corresponding hanja name (延新內), this name was deemed incorrect and dropped in May 2001.
Jungnang District (Jungnang-gu) is one of the 25 gu, or districts, of Seoul, South Korea. It is located on the north side of the Han River.
Seongsu Station is a rapid transit station on Seoul Subway Line 2. It is located in Seongsu-dong in the Seongdong-gu administrative district of Seoul. It is also the southeastern terminus of Line 2's Seongsu Branch to Sinseol-dong. Trains needing to be serviced take the Seongsu Branch from this station and go to the Gunja Train Depot behind Yongdap Station.
Sinseol-dong Station is a station on the Seoul Subway Line 1, the Seongsu Branch of Seoul Subway Line 2, and Ui LRT. There is a piece of track that connects the Line 1 and Line 2 stations, and Line 1 trains belonging to Seoul Metro are serviced at the Gunja Train Depot behind Yongdap Station using this connective track.
Oido station is a subway station on Seoul Subway Line 4 and the Suin–Bundang Line in Siheung, South Korea. It is the current southwestern terminus of Seoul Subway Line 4 located almost 30 kilometers southwest of Seoul, connecting Oido to other parts of Korea. A commuter rail trip between this station and Seoul Station takes over an hour, and a train servicing depot is located nearby. The name of the station was decided by the surrounding area Oido island.
Eungam is a station on Line 6 of the Seoul Metropolitan Subway. The station serves as the western terminus of Line 6 and is in the Yeokchon neighborhood of the Eunpyeong District of Seoul. Travel time between Eungam Station and Bonghwasan Station, the eastern terminus of Line 6, is approximately 57 minutes.
Sinnae station is a railway station on the Gyeongchun Line and Seoul Subway Line 6. The station is located near the Sinnae train depot, which is the depot of Line 6. Line 6 currently only has 1 track and 1 platform, however, in the future, the Line 6 station will be expanded to 2 tracks and 2 platforms. This station is also the first aboveground station on Line 6.
