The northern giraffe, also known as three-horned giraffe, is the type species of giraffe, G. camelopardalis, and is native to North Africa, although alternative taxonomic hypotheses have proposed the northern giraffe as a separate species.

The grey long-eared bat is a fairly large European bat. It has distinctive ears, long and with a distinctive fold. It hunts above woodland, often by day, and mostly for moths. In captivity, it has also been recorded to eat small lizards. It is extremely similar to the more common brown long-eared bat, and was only distinguished in the 1960s, but has a paler belly.

Alpine woolly rat Species of rodent

The alpine woolly rat is a species of rodent in the family Muridae. It is found only in West Papua, Indonesia. It is found only at high elevations, has an extent of occurrence less than 5,000 km2, and is known from only two localities. The combination of hunting, predation, and slow breeding means that the population size is probably declining. This species is very likely to be increasingly affected by global warming, which increases fire frequency and is causing the extent of habitat to decline. When specimens were brought to a museum the female rats were pregnant with only one baby, so it is assumed that the rat gives birth to only one offspring at a time.

Nelson's woodrat is a species of rodent in the family Cricetidae. It is endemic to Mexico, where it is known only from the eastern slopes of the volcanoes Orizaba and Cofre de Perote. Due to the small geographic range, isolation, and low population, the Nelson's woodrat has a higher risk for extinction. The distribution and population sizes are small. The population exists in geographic isolation, which prevents gene flow

Bonnetia is a genus of flowering plants in the family Bonnetiaceae. Most of the roughly 30 species are shrubs. The remaining species, all trees, are among the dominant species in the forest vegetation on the tepui plateaus of northern South America, such as B. roraimae on the summit of Mount Roraima.

Utricularia campbelliana Species of carnivorous plant

Utricularia campbelliana is a small epiphytic, perennial carnivorous plant that belongs to the genus Utricularia. U. campbelliana is endemic to northern South America, where it is found in Guyana and Venezuela and most likely also Brazil, though no positive records exist from that country. It was originally published and described by Daniel Oliver in 1887. It is named in honor of William Hunter Campbell, an attorney and amateur botanist who lived in Georgetown, Guyana. Its habitat is reported as being tree trunks, branches, and prop roots at altitudes from 1,500 metres (4,921 ft) to 2,500 metres (8,202 ft), but has been found at altitudes as low as 690 metres (2,264 ft). It has been seen flowering between August and April. In his 1989 monograph on the genus, Peter Taylor noted that at least one specimen has been recorded as being visited by a hummingbird and it is likely that both U. campbelliana and U. quelchii are bird-pollinated.
