Bossk are a British post-metal band formed in Ashford, Kent in 2005.

History

Bossk are named after a minor alien character in The Empire Strikes Back. Following their 2006 debut release, .1, on the QnotQ label, they toured extensively with a number of bands, including Cult of Luna, The Ocean, Yndi Halda and Baroness. [1]

Bossk .2 was released by Eyesofsound in October 2007. Touring on the back of the release saw the band play shows throughout the UK with Devil Sold His Soul and Ephel Duath, and with Cult of Luna and Humanfly on continental Europe.[ citation needed ]

During early 2008, after a tour around the UK with Kruger, original members Nick Corney and Rob Vaughan left the band. Replacements were found and Bossk toured with Textures for a brief stint in the Netherlands. In May 2008 the band played their 200th show and their first headline show at the Islington Academy in London. [2]

In October of the same year Bossk broke up. Two final shows were played and the .3 video EP was released, along with a trilogy box-set of all their EPs. In August 2009, a split with Rinoa was released. This featured a soundboard recording of a new song which was to be used on the album the band were working on before they called it a day.[ citation needed ]

In February 2012, the band announced plans to record a live BBC Maida Vale session and play two shows at a later date. In 2012, Bossk released the single "Pick Up Artist" through the American indie hardcore punk label Deathwish Inc. [3] Three years later in 2016, Bossk released its debut album titled Audio Noir, also released through Deathwish. [4]

Bossk released Migration in 2021 and performed their first headline tour since 2007 in December 2021, supporting this release, along with an appearance at ArcTanGent in 2022. [4] [5] They also performed at Damnation Festival's "Night of Salvation" pre-show and Bloodstock Festival in 2023. [6] [7]

Damnation Festival is an annual one-day heavy metal music festival currently held at Bowlers Exhibition Centre in Manchester. It was held at Jilly's Rockworld in Manchester from 2005 to 2006 and then at the University of Leeds from 2007 until 2021. It is organized by Gavin McInally and Paul Farrington.

Fury UK was an English heavy metal band based in Manchester, England. Between 2007 and 2012 the band played a series of important festival appearances such as Bloodstock Open Air and Hammerfest in the UK, and Prog Power Metal Festival in Belgium, toured extensively with some of the biggest names such as Saxon, Iced Earth and Michael Schenker. Meanwhile, the band released three albums, one EP and one DVD. The band received plenty of critical praise, not least from renowned music writer Dom Lawson in his review of 3rd album 'A Way of Life' for Classic Rock magazine. In May 2012 the band went on long term hiatus when bassist Luke Appleton was recruited by American heavy metal band Iced Earth, following which Fury UK members Chris Appleton and Martin McNee formed a new band called Absolva, announcing their debut album 'Flames of Justice'.

Rinoa was an English post-metal group, formed in Essex in 2007. Their line-up consisted of vocalist Perry Bryan, guitarists Matthew Holden and Jozef Norocky, bassist David Gumbleton and drummer James May. The band split in November 2010, with most of their members going on to different musical projects.

Incinery are a British thrash metal band from the Midlands. Founded in early 2009 by guitarists Jason Chaikeawrung and Chris Kenny, Incinery consist of five members. Their music has been described as the speed and ferocity of 80s thrash metal injected with a more modern edge. The band has been compared with Exodus, Sodom, and early Sepultura.

<i>Profound Morality</i> 2022 EP by Heriot

Profound Morality is the third extended play by British metalcore band Heriot, released on 29 April 2022 through Church Road Records. It is the band's first release as a quartet featuring guitarist and vocalist Debbie Gough, who joined in 2019. The band wrote and recorded the bulk of the EP in five days at their rehearsal space in Bristol in April 2021, with its production continuing until October of that year. Whilst primarily categorized as a metalcore release, Profound Morality has been noted for its genre-blending sound, combining elements from death metal, sludge metal, doom metal, gothic metal, hardcore, post-rock, darkwave, industrial, and noise music. Its lyrics, inspired by the "rhetoric of wealth and class" during the COVID-19 pandemic, focus on the "question of power", accountability, blame, integrity and the morals of oneself and others.

Green Lung is a British stoner doom band formed in 2017 in London, currently signed to Nuclear Blast Records.

Conjurer are an English extreme metal band from Rugby. They are currently signed to Nuclear Blast Records. Their music has been described as "non-specific" in terms of subgenre, with sludge metal, doom metal and post-metal elements frequently noted.

Underdark are a British black metal band from Nottingham, England, formed in 2015 by guitarists Ollie Jones and Adam Kinson and drummer Dan Hallam. Their current lineup consists of Jones, Kinson, bassist Stephen Waterfield, vocalist Abi Vasquez and drummer Dan Blackmore. The band's sound has been categorized under the "post-black metal" label and incorporates elements of blackgaze, screamo, and post-hardcore. Its members' anti-fascist beliefs, held since the band's inception, have led to Underdark being associated with the "anti-fascist black metal" and Red and Anarchist Black Metal (RABM) movements, although they do not consider themselves to be a political band.
