The Southeast Asian Games, commonly known as SEA Games is a biennial multi-sport event involving participants from the current 11 countries of Southeast Asia. The games are under the regulation of the Southeast Asian Games Federation with supervision by the International Olympic Committee and the Olympic Council of Asia.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">1965 SEAP Games</span> Multi-sport event in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia

The 1965 Southeast Asian Peninsular Games, officially known as the 3rd Southeast Asian Peninsular Games, was a Southeast Asian multi-sport event held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, from 14 to 21 December 1965 with 14 sports featured in the games. Originally to be hosted by Laos, the third edition of the games was hosted by Malaysia after the former was not able to honour its hosting commitment citing financial difficulties and would later known to have hosted the 2009 SEA Games decades later. Two years earlier, the third SEAP Games was cancelled as Cambodia pulled out of hosting the event due to internal strife. This was the first time Malaysia host the games. Malaysia is the third country to host the Southeast Asian Peninsular Games, which later known as the Southeast Asian Games after Thailand and Myanmar, then Burma. The games was opened and closed by Ismail Nasiruddin, the King of Malaysia at the Stadium Merdeka. The final medal tally was led by Thailand followed by host Malaysia and Singapore.

The 2007 Southeast Asian Games, officially known as the 24th Southeast Asian Games, was a Southeast Asian multi-sport event held in Nakhon Ratchasima (Korat), Thailand. This was the sixth time Thailand hosted the Southeast Asian Games and its first time since 1995. Previously, Thailand also hosted the 1959 inaugural games, 1967 games, 1975 games and the 1985 games.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">2009 SEA Games</span> Multi-sport event in Vientiane, Laos

The 2009 Southeast Asian Games, officially known as the 25th Southeast Asian Games, was a Southeast Asian multi-sport event hosted by Vientiane, Laos. This was the first time Laos had held the Southeast Asian Games as Laos had previously declined hosting the 1965 Southeast Asian Peninsular Games, citing financial difficulties. This was also the first time the Southeast Asian Games was held in a landlocked country.

The aquatics events at the 2007 SEA Games included swimming, diving and water polo. The events were held at the Aquatic Center, His Majesty the King's 80th Birthday Anniversary Stadium, Nakhon Ratchasima, Thailand.

The tennis tournament at the 2009 SEA Games was held from December 11 to December 18 in Vientiane of Laos. The men's and women's tournament have no age limit.

The finswimming events at the 2009 SEA Games were held from 15 December to 17 December in Vientiane, Laos. The Events were held at the Aquatic Center of the National Sports Complex.

The Women's 4x100 Freestyle Relay swimming event at the 2009 SEA Games was held on December 11, 2009. Of note, in the event's final, the top-3 teams all swam faster than the then-Games Record in the event. The team from Singapore won the event.

The Women's 200 Breaststroke swimming event at the 2009 SEA Games was held on December 13, 2009. Yi Ting Siow of Malaysia won the event.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Laos at the 2012 Summer Olympics</span> Sporting event delegation

Laos competed at the 2012 Summer Olympics in London when the event took place from 27 July to 12 August 2012. It was the nation's eighth overall appearance following their Olympic debut in 1980. Laos had previously competed in seven consecutive Olympics prior to London apart from the 1984 Summer Olympics boycott. Two athletes and one swimmer were selected to the Laotian Olympic team after the country did not qualify any competitors.

The Laos national under-23 football team represents Laos in international football competitions in Olympic Games, Asian Games and SEA Games, as well as other under-23 international football tournaments.

Laos, officially the Lao People's Democratic Republic, competed at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, from 5 to 21 August 2016. This was the nation's ninth appearance at the Summer Olympics, having attended all games since 1980 with the exception of the 1984 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles, because of the Soviet boycott.

Pétanque at the 2009 SEA Games took place at National University of Lao Petanque Court, Dongdok (Vientiane), Laos.

Obstacle racing was among the sports contested at the 2019 SEA Games. Six obstacle course racing events were featured: two events each for 100 meters with 10 obstacles, 400 meters with 12 obstacles and 5 km with 20 obstacles. These were the first obstacle course racing events in Games recognised by the International Olympic Committee and under regulation of World OCR, the Fédération Internationale de Sport d'Obstacles.

The swimming competitions at the 2019 SEA Games in Manila were held at the New Clark City Aquatics Center from 4 to 9 December 2019. It is one of four aquatic sports at the Games, along with diving, open water swimming, and water polo.

Judo competitions at the 2019 SEA Games were held at the Laus Group Event Center from 4 to 7 December 2019.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Laos national badminton team</span> National badminton team representing Laos

The Laos national badminton team represents Laos in international badminton team competitions. It is managed by the Badminton Lao Federation. The Laotian team participated in the Southeast Asian Games and won three bronze medals in 1959 and 1961. The national team also competes in the Lao International, also known as the BEERLAO International Series.
