The 2017 Southeast Asian Games, officially known as the 29th Southeast Asian Games, or the 29th SEA Games, and commonly known as Kuala Lumpur 2017, was a Southeast Asian multi-sport event that took place from 19 to 30 August 2017 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. This was the sixth time that Malaysia hosted the games and its first time since 2001. Previously, it had also hosted the 1965, 1971, 1977 and 1989 editions of the games. The 2017 edition is most notable for being the first edition to include winter sports.

However, for the first time since the London Games, the programme has been updated, with the number of men's events reduced by two and the number of women's events increased by the same number.

Sapok Biki is a Malaysian boxer. He won the gold medal in the light flyweight class at the 1998 Commonwealth Games in Kuala Lumpur. He also competed for his native country at the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta, Georgia. He has since retired from competition and become a coach.

The Light Flyweight class in the boxing competition was the lightest class. Light flyweights were limited to those boxers weighing less than 48 kilograms (105.8 lbs). 24 boxers qualified for this category. It was the first appearance of this category in Olympic Boxing competitions.

The men's light flyweight boxing competitions at the 2018 Commonwealth Games in Gold Coast, Australia took place between 6 and 14 April at Oxenford Studios. Light flyweights were limited to those boxers weighing less than 49 kilograms (108.02 lbs).

The women's light flyweight boxing competitions at the 2018 Commonwealth Games in Gold Coast, Australia took place between 8 and 14 April at Oxenford Studios. Women light flyweights were limited to those boxers weighing less than 48 kilograms. This event made its Commonwealth Games debut.

The men's light flyweight event was part of the boxing programme at the 1992 Summer Olympics. The weight class was the lightest contested, and allowed boxers of up to 48 kilograms to compete. The competition was held from 26 July to 8 August 1992. 30 boxers from 30 nations competed.
