Upon his return to fighting, Riddell was expected to face Thiago Moisés on March 16, 2024, at UFC Fight Night 239. [26] On February 14, 2024 though, it was announced that he withdrew from the event due to undisclosed reasons. [27]
Riddell dubbed himself “Quake” in homage to his home city of Christchurch, which was devastated by an earthquake in 2011. The disaster destroyed many of the buildings, including Riddell’s place of work, but it was also the catalyst for him moving to Auckland and building a career in combat sports. [8]
