Bridgeport is a neighborhood located in Indianapolis, Marion County, Indiana. [1] It was previously a small village with a post office and stores, but later became part of Indianapolis.

History

Bridgeport was platted in 1831. It was also called West Parkview and Sunnyside. It was an early African-American community in Marion County. [2] With the passing of Unigov in 1970, Bridgeport, like much of Marion County, was incorporated into Indianapolis.

Geography

Bridgeport is located in Wayne Township near the intersection of Bridgeport Road and Washington Street (US 40).

Democrat Tim Roemer of the 2nd district retired, leaving the seat vacant. Republicans picked up the 2nd district seat, gaining a 6-3 advantage following the elections.

The Indianapolis City Market is a historic public market located in Indianapolis, Indiana. It was founded in 1821 and officially opened in its current facility in 1886. The market building is a one-story, rectangular brick building trimmed in limestone. It has a front gable center section flanked by square towers. While it was originally a farmers market, it is now a food hall. The Indianapolis City Market also hosted some events for Super Bowl XLVI in Indianapolis.
