List of African-American neighborhoods

The list contains the names of cities, districts, and neighborhoods in the U.S. that are predominantly African American or that are strongly associated with African-American culture— either currently or historically. Included are areas that contain high concentrations of blacks or African Americans. Not counted are Afro-Caribbeans, Afro-Latinos, Afro-Asian, Afro-Indian, Afro-Polynesian, West African, and Sub-Saharan African immigrants.

The largest African-American community is in Atlanta, Georgia; followed by Washington, DC; Houston, Texas; Chicago, Illinois; Miami, Florida; [1] [ circular reference ] and Detroit, Michigan. [2] About 80 percent of the city population is African-American. A quarter of Metro Detroit (Macomb, Oakland and Wayne counties) are African-American.

The region is located in the western part of the city, neighbored by Sedamsville and Riverside to the south, Westwood and South Fairmount to the north, and Queensgate to the west. Originally one of the oldest suburbs of Cincinnati, the region is predominately Catholic, having been an ethnic enclave for both Irish and German Catholics. Price Hill's neighborhoods are residential communities, having a combined population of 36,271 at the 2020 census.

The city is the economic and cultural hub of the Cincinnati metropolitan area, Ohio's most populous metro area and the nation's 30th-largest with over 2.265 million residents.

Hartwell is one of the 52 neighborhoods of Cincinnati, Ohio. Established in 1868 and annexed in 1912, it is the city's northernmost neighborhood, centered roughly on the intersections of I-75 and Ronald Reagan Cross County Highway. Its boundaries are a combination of Caldwell Park and Ronald Reagan Cross County Highway to the south, I-75 to the east, and a combination of Millsdale Street and Compton Road to the North. The population was 5,806 at the 2020 census.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Demographics of Cleveland</span>

The demographics of Cleveland have fluctuated throughout the city's history. From its founding in 1796, Cleveland's population grew to 261,353 by 1890, and to 796,841 by 1920, making it the fifth largest city in the United States at the time. By 1930, the population rose to 900,429 and, after World War II, it reached 914,808. Due to various historical factors including deindustrialization, suburbanization, and urban sprawl, Cleveland's population began decreasing in the 1960s. By 1970, the city's population was 750,903. By 1980, it was 573,822 and it had lost its position as one of the top 10 largest cities in the U.S. By 2020, the population had further fallen to 372,624. Beginning in 2018, the city's population began to flatten, after decades of decline. Additionally, between 2010 and 2020, several neighborhoods within Cleveland saw a significant population increase, most notably Downtown, but also University Circle and several West Side neighborhoods.
