Hickory Hill is a middle-class, predominantly African American community in the southeast region of Memphis, Tennessee, United States.
In the 1950s, Hickory Hill was a rural community just southeast of Memphis, with some paved roads and less than a 1,000 homes were available in the area. [1]
The neighborhood is bounded on the north by where Bill Morris Parkway (385) meets Kirby, and the community of Fox Meadows (or Winchester Road), on the east by Riverdale Road, on the south by Holmes Road and Shelby Drive, and on the west by Mendenhall Road and/or the community of Parkway Village.
The neighborhood experienced a dramatic demographic change after being annexed by the city of Memphis on Thursday, December 31, 1998. According to the Census Bureau, the Black population increased dramatically by more than 450 percent between 1990 and 2000. The white population dropped 50 percent over this same period. The Hispanic population in Hickory Hill has increased nearly 700 percent over the past decade. According to the 2010 Census the two zip codes 38141 and 38115 that make up Hickory Hill were both 80% Black, 10% to 11% Hispanic (mostly Mexican), 8% White and 1% Asian. [2] [3] The median income for zip code 38141 was $56,000 and the mean income was $60,672. For 38115 zip code The median income was $34,603 and the mean income was $47,369. The percentage adults in Hickory Hill with a high school education is higher than either the city or the county by 5-10 percent. More than one in four adults have a bachelor's degree or higher which is equal to the county rate and higher than the city rate.

It is named for Confederate Colonel David C. Cross, a political leader in the area.

Its boundaries, starting from the north and moving clockwise are East Gun Hill Road to the north and east, Pelham Parkway to the south, and the IRT Dyre Avenue Line to the west ending at the esplanade. Eastchester Road is the primary thoroughfare through Pelham Gardens.
Allerton is a working-class neighborhood geographically located in the East Bronx section of the Bronx, New York City. It is named in honor of Daniel Allerton, an early Bronx settler who purchased and farmed this area with his wife Hustace. It consists of two subsections called Bronxwood and Laconia. Its boundaries, starting from the north and moving clockwise, are Adee Avenue, Boston Road, and Gun Hill Road to the northeast; the IRT Dyre Avenue Line to the east; Waring Avenue to the south; and Bronx River Parkway to the west. White Plains Road and Boston Road are the primary thoroughfares through Allerton.
Norwood, also known as Bainbridge, is a residential neighborhood in the northwest Bronx, New York City, U.S. It is bound by Van Cortlandt Park and Woodlawn Cemetery to the north, the Bronx River to the east, and Mosholu Parkway to the southwest. The area is dominated topographically by what was once Valentine's Hill, the highest point being near the intersection of 210th Street and Bainbridge Avenue, where Gun Hill Road intersects, and around the Montefiore Medical Center, the largest landowner and employer of the neighborhood. Norwood's main commercial arteries are Gun Hill Road, Jerome Avenue, Webster Avenue, and Bainbridge Avenue.
Dongan Hills is a neighborhood located within the New York City borough of Staten Island. It is on the island's East Shore. Dongan Hills is bounded by Laconia Avenue to the southeast, Jefferson Avenue on the southwest, Richmond Road on the northwest, and Old Town Road to the north. It is adjacent to New Dorp and Grant City to the southwest, Todt Hill to the northwest, Old Town/Concord to the northeast, and South Beach and Midland Beach to the southeast.

The census-defined combined statistical area covers eleven counties in three states, Tennessee, Mississippi, and Arkansas. As of 2020 census, the Memphis metropolitan area had a population of 1,389,905 The Forrest City, Arkansas Micropolitan area was added to the Memphis area in 2012 to form the Memphis–Forrest City Combined Statistical area. In 2023 the Clarksdale, Mississippi Micropolitan area was also added to form the new Memphis-Clarksdale-Forrest City Combined Statistical Area which as of 2023 had a population of roughly 1.4 million people according to census estimates.
Pelham Parkway is a working- and middle-class residential neighborhood geographically located in the center of the Bronx, a borough of New York City in the United States. Its boundaries, starting from the north and moving clockwise are: Pelham Parkway South, to the east the IRT Dyre Avenue Line tracks and to the south Bronxdale Avenue and to the west, Bronx Park East. White Plains Road is the primary commercial thoroughfare through Pelham Parkway. The neighborhood is named after Pelham Parkway, a major west–east parkway that travels through the East Bronx.

Parkway Village is bounded by Getwell Road and Lamar Avenue on the west, Winchester Road on the south, I-240 on the north, and Mendenhall Road on the east. The former Mall of Memphis was in the Parkway Village community.
Greenbriar is a middle-class neighborhood of southwestern Atlanta, Georgia. Greenbriar is a long strip along the east side of the Perimeter (I-285) stretching from Langford Parkway to just south of Stone Road. It is bordered by Atlanta's "Southwest" neighborhood across Langford Parkway to the north, Ben Hill Forest across the Perimeter to the west, and by the city of East Point on the east and south.
