Premise

In the wake of his father's death, a twenty-something writer sees his dream of moving to Paris put in jeopardy when he's forced to temporarily take in his wildly unpredictable, mentally ill sister. [1]

Production

In March 2018, it was announced Ben Platt had been cast in the film, which was originally titled Love and Oatmeal, with Peter Sattler directing from a screenplay by Steve Waverly. Molly Smith, Rachel Smith, Thad Luckinbill, Trent Luckinbill, and Trina Wyatt will produce the film, while Jon Schumacher will executive produce the film under their Black Label Media banner. [2] In May 2018, Lola Kirke joined the cast of the film. [3] In June 2018, Yvette Nicole Brown and Alphonso McAuley joined the cast of the film. [4]

Filming

Principal photography began on June 4, 2018, in Vancouver. [5]

Release

The film had its world premiere at the Santa Barbara International Film Festival on April 1, 2021. [6] Prior to, FilmRise acquired global distribution rights to the film. [7]

Benjamin Schiff Platt is an American actor and singer. The son of film and theater producer Marc Platt, he began his acting career in musical theater as a child and appeared in productions of The Sound of Music (2006) and The Book of Mormon (2012–2015), rising to prominence for originating the title role in the Broadway coming-of-age musical Dear Evan Hansen (2015–2017). His performance in the latter earned him multiple accolades, including the Tony Award for Best Actor in a Leading Role in a Musical, the youngest solo recipient of the award at the time, in addition to a Daytime Emmy, and Grammy Award.
