Bruce Wilkinson is a Christian preacher, speaker and writer. He is based in the US.
He is best known for his book The Prayer of Jabez. He also founded Walk Thru the Bible, an evangelical Christian educational organization, [1] with Howard Hendricks, as well as Teach Every Nation (TEN), an Evangelical parachurch organization.
Wilkinson was born in New Jersey to Joan and James Wilkinson. He graduated from Northeastern Bible College with a B.A. and Th. B., Dallas Theological Seminary (Th. M.) and Western Conservative Baptist Seminary (D.D.). [2]
Wilkinson started his career as a college professor at Multnomah School of the Bible in Portland, Oregon.
In 1976, he launched "Walk Thru the Bible.” He also launched and led WorldTeach.
After the fall of the Soviet Union in 1991, Wilkinson traveled to Russia to teach in conjunction with the presentation of the Jesus film. He worked as chairman of Co-Mission, an education ministry in Russia [3] until 1996.
Wilkinson has produced a motion picture about AIDS called Beat the Drum.
In 2002, Wilkinson moved with his family to South Africa and founded an organization called "Dream For Africa". As part of this new project, he launched "Heart for Africa", which mobilized volunteers to plant backyard vegetable gardens for orphans and people living with hunger. He also launched a movement to recruit college students to conduct AIDS training in high schools.
Wilkinson founded "Teach Every Nation" (TEN) in 2013. TEN was formed to provide "innovative, practical and culturally relevant training" for pastors and leaders in the global South. Training is provided through simulcasts and in-person courses on TEN's training campus located in the Waterberg Biosphere of northern South Africa. [4]
Wilkinson's ministries have also reached Swaziland, [5] a country whose king, Mswati III, he tried unsuccessfully to meet during the early 2000s, leading him to return to the United States. [6]
Wilkinson has also served as the chairman of the board of the Exponential Group. [7]

Wilkinson served on the overview committee for the New King James Version of the Bible, [9] as well as writing notes for the Open Bible. [10]
He is the executive editor of four Bibles including The Daily Walk Bible (NIV, NL, NKV, RSV), The Closer Walk New Testament (NIV), The Youth Walk Bible (NIV), and The Family Walk Bible (NIV). [11]
The New International Version (NIV) is a translation of the Bible into contemporary English. Published by Biblica, the complete NIV was released in 1978 with a minor revision in 1984 and a major revision in 2011. The NIV relies on recently-published critical editions of the original Hebrew, Aramaic, and Greek texts.
Jabez is a man appearing in the Book of Chronicles. He is implied to be ancestor of the Kings of Judah, although not explicitly included in the lineage. His mother named him Jabez, meaning "he makes sorrowful", because his birth was difficult. Jabez's most important action was to conquer new territory with divine sanction.
The Prayer of Jabez: Breaking Through to the Blessed Life is a book by Bruce Wilkinson published in 2000 by Multnomah Books as the first book in the "BreakThrough" book series. It is based on the Old Testament passage 1 Chronicles 4:9–10:
Jabez was more honorable than his brothers. His mother had named him Jabez, saying: "I gave birth to him in pain." Jabez cried out to the God of Israel, saying: "Oh that You would bless me indeed and enlarge my territory! Let Your hand be with me, and keep me from the evil one." And God granted his request.
Frederick Antony Ravi Kumar Zacharias was an Indian-born Canadian-American Christian evangelical minister and Christian apologist who founded Ravi Zacharias International Ministries (RZIM). He was involved in Christian apologetics for a period spanning more than forty years, authoring more than thirty books. He also hosted the radio programs Let My People Think and Just Thinking. Zacharias belonged to the Christian and Missionary Alliance (C&MA), the Keswickian Christian denomination in which he was ordained as a minister.
Charles Frazier Stanley Jr. was an American Southern Baptist pastor and writer. He was senior pastor of First Baptist Church in Atlanta for 49 years and took on emeritus status in 2020. He founded and was president of In Touch Ministries which widely broadcasts his sermons through television and radio. He also served two one-year terms as president of the Southern Baptist Convention, from 1984 to 1986.
Darrell L. Bock is an American evangelical New Testament scholar. He is executive director of Cultural Engagement at The Hendricks Center and Senior Research Professor of New Testament studies at Dallas Theological Seminary (DTS) in Dallas, Texas, United States. Bock received his PhD from Scotland's University of Aberdeen. His supervisor was I. Howard Marshall. Harold Hoehner was an influence in his NT development, as were Martin Hengel and Otto Betz as he was a Humboldt scholar at Tübingen University multiple years.
Multnomah University (MU) was a private Christian university in Portland, Oregon providing undergraduate, graduate, and certificate programs in both in-person and online settings. In 2023, the school announced it would be closing as Multnomah University on May 1, 2024, becoming the Multnomah campus of Jessup University.

Howard George Hendricks was a longtime professor at Dallas Theological Seminary and speaker for Promise Keepers. Upon his graduation from Dallas, Hendricks accepted the pastorate at Calvary Independent Presbyterian Church in Fort Worth, Texas. An opening on the seminary staff led Hendricks to begin teaching twice per week in the fall of 1951. After one year on staff, Hendricks resigned his post to pursue a doctorate at Yale University. However, the founder and president of Dallas Theological Seminary, Lewis Sperry Chafer, died and the new president, John Walvoord, asked Hendricks to delay his doctorate and return to Dallas as a teacher.
