Bumitama Gunajaya Agro is a palm oil company from South Jakarta, cultivating palm oil trees in Kalimantan. [1] It is a member of Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil. [2] The company was founded in 1997. [3] It is a subsidiary of Bumitama Agri Ltd. [4] The Malaysian IOI Group is one of the key investors in their holding company, Bumitama Agri Ltd. [5] Bumitama Gunajaya Agro (BGA) has cleared Borneo rainforest areas, decreasing the habitat of the Orangutans. [6] [7]

Bumitama is an Indonesian oil palm plantation company which cultivates oil palm trees and produces crude palm oil (CPO). It was established in 1996 by the Harita Group with its first acquisition of land in Central Kalimantan. Bumitama owns roughly 230,000 hectares and has planted 187,000 hectares of oil palm trees, primarily in Central and West Kalimantan. Gunung Rara Forest Reserve is a rainforest area in Tawau Division, Sabah, Malaysia. Borneo elephants probably were killed in a concession area of Yayasan Sabah in the reserve. The concession was originally intended to be managed into perpetuity for the benefit of all Sabahans but was instead largely decimated by overharvesting. The reserve sits between Danum Valley and Maliau Basin Conservation areas. There are palm oil plantations in the reserve. The rainforests in Sabah are endangered by palm oil plantations.

Palm oil production is important to the economy of Indonesia as the country is the world's biggest producer and consumer of the commodity, providing about half of the world's supply. In 2016, Indonesia produced over 34.6 million metric tons of palm oil, and exported 25.1 million metric tons of it. Oil palm plantations stretch across at least 12 million hectares. There are several different types of plantations, including small, privately owned plantations, and larger, state-owned plantations. There are a variety of health, environmental, and societal impacts that result from the production of palm oil in Indonesia. A recent publication by the NGO Rainforest Action Network (RAN) indicates that the use of palm oil by some of the biggest chocolate and snacks' producers is increasing this problem.

PT Agro Bukit is a palm oil company from Indonesia. Its headquarters is in Sampit, Central Kalimantan. It is a subsidiary of Goodhope Asia Holdings Ltd, part of Sri Lankan conglomerate Carson Cumberbatch. It is or used to be active in South Kalimantan and Central Kalimantan. In 2012, the government of East Kotawaringin Regency in Central Kalimantan has told the company to temporarily halt part of its operations for allegedly violating its concession permit.

Indofood Agri Resources Ltd. is an investment holding company and a subsidiary of Indofood Singapore Holdings Pte. Ltd.. Through Anthoni Salim's First Pacific and Indofood, he owns 74% of the company's voting rights. The company is listed on Singapore Exchange and the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
