CDC Northern Territory is a bus operator providing services in Alice Springs, Bathchelor, Darwin, Palmerston, Jabiru and Humpty Doo. It is the largest operator in the Northern Territory and the sole operator of the Darwinbus network. [1]

CDC Northern Territory is a subsidiary of ComfortDelGro Australia (CDC) since November 2018, and was rebranded from Buslink in July 2022. [2] The Buslink brand was also used in bus operations in Queensland, New South Wales and Victoria until 2020 when these operations were also rebranded to CDC.

History

Buslink was formed in May 1988 when Darwin operator Ace Bus Service purchased the business of Matilda Tours from Ansett Trailways and merged both operations under the Buslink brand with a fleet of 25 buses. [3] [4]

In 1990 Buslink began operating services from Casuarina to Darwin and Palmerston previously provided by Darwin Bus Service. [5] In July 1992 Buslink took over the Alice Springs services previously provided by Alice Bus Company. [6] [7]

In 1994 the Katherine school services of Travel North were purchased with six buses. [8] In July 2007 Shuker Bus Service was purchased.

In 1999, with the purchase of Gladstone Bus & Coach, Buslink began operating bus services in Queensland under the Buslink Queensland brand. [9] In 2013, it held a 50% shareholding in Buslink Vivo. [10] [11] [12]

In February 2017 Buslink took over Murton's City Bus of Broken Hill. [13] [14] [15]

In November 2018 Buslink was purchased by ComfortDelGro Australia. [16] [17]

On 1 March 2020, Buslink Sunraysia and Buslink Broken Hill were rebranded CDC Mildura and CDC Broken Hill respectively. [18] On 1 October 2020, Buslink Queensland was rebranded CDC Queensland, with Sunshine Coast operations rebranded CDC Sunshine Coast and Gladstone operations rebranded CDC Gladstone. [19] [20]

In June 2022, the Northern Territory Government awarded Buslink a new six-year bus contract to operate all of Darwin's bus services following a competitive tender. [1] Buslink commenced the contract on 1 July 2022 under a new CDC Northern Territory branding and took over services previously operated by Territory Transit. [2] [21]

Buslink also operated employee bus services in Darwin as a joint venture with Transdev called Buslink Vivo. The bus service ceased in July 2019. [26] [27] In January 2022, it took over the operation of school services in Alice Springs and Bathchelor from Australian Transit Group. [28]

Queensland

Buslink operated in Gladstone and Sunshine Coast as Buslink Queensland. It was rebranded as CDC Queensland in October 2020. [19] [20]

New South Wales

Buslink operated in Broken Hill as Buslink Broken Hill, taking over Murton's City Bus in February 2017. It was rebranded as CDC Broken Hill in March 2020. [18] [29]

NSW/Victoria border

Buslink operated in Mildura and Wentworth as Buslink Sunraysia. It operated as a partnership with Transit South West, an operator in Victoria. [30] The operation was previously known as Sunraysia Bus Lines. It was rebranded as CDC Mildura in March 2020. [18]

Fleet

As at February 2022, the fleet consisted of 169 buses. [31] Fleet livery is white with blue signwriting.

CDC Victoria is a transport company which operates in Victoria and is a subsidiary of ComfortDelGro Australia. It was renamed from Kefford Corporation, which was acquired by ComfortDelGro Cabcharge in February 2009.

Greyhound Australia is an Australian coach operator that ran services in all mainland states and territories until reduction of services in the 2000s.

Transdev NSW

Transdev NSW is an bus operator in the northern, southern and western suburbs of Sydney, Australia, operating on behalf of Transport for NSW. It is a subsidiary of Transdev Australasia. It is a different subsidiary to Transdev John Holland, which is 75% owned by Transdev and operates in the eastern suburbs of Sydney.

ComfortDelGro Australia

ComfortDelGro Australia is a major Australian public transport company. Founded in October 2005 as ComfortDelGro Cabcharge, a joint venture between Singapore-based ComfortDelGro (51%) and Australian Cabcharge (49%), today it is a fully owned subsidiary of ComfortDelGro.

The Sydney Metropolitan Bus Service Contracts are contracts issued by the Government of New South Wales to metropolitan bus operators in Sydney, Australia. Since 2005, the government has moved from individual contracts with operators to larger contract regions, leading to the consolidation of bus operators.

Sunbus Rockhampton Australian bus operator

Sunbus Rockhampton previously Capricorn Sunbus is the principal bus operator in Rockhampton, Queensland operating services under the QConnect scheme in Regional Queensland. It is one of Sunbus' operations.

Darwinbus

Darwinbus is a public bus network which operates in Darwin and Palmerston in the Northern Territory. The network is solely operated by CDC Northern Territory under a six-year contract with the Northern Territory Government starting from 1 July 2022. Prior to this, the network was operated under two contracts, one by Buslink, and the other by Territory Transit. The Northern Territory Government then combined both contracts, and in May 2022, announced Buslink as the successful bidder after a competitive tender between the two incumbents.

Transdev Queensland

Transdev Queensland Bus is an Australian operator of bus services in the Redland City region of Brisbane. It operates 31 services under contract to the Government of Queensland under the TransLink banner. It is a subsidiary of Transdev Australasia.

CDC Queensland, formerly Buslink Queensland, is an Australian bus operator in the Gladstone, Rockhampton and Sunshine Coast regions of Queensland. It is a subsidiary of ComfortDelGro Australia.

Transit Systems

Transit Systems Group is an Australian-based public transport company, which also operates overseas through its subsidiary Tower Transit Group. Transit Systems Group is a subsidiary of the Kelsian Group, formerly SeaLink Travel Group.

Transdev Australasia is an operator of bus, ferry, light rail and rail services in Australia and New Zealand. It is a subsidiary of French-based, international Transdev. It was formed in 2013 by grouping the operations of Veolia Transport Australia and former Transdev together, as a result of the global rebranding from Veolia Transdev to Transdev.

Buslink VIVO was a bus operator providing services in Howard Springs. It was a 50/50 joint venture between Buslink and Transdev Australasia.

Sydney, Australia is served by a number of bus operators, with ComfortDelGro Australia the largest operator in New South Wales as of September 2018 when the company took-over Forest Coach Lines. Other major operators include Busways, Transdev and Transit Systems. Most services are provided as part of the city's integrated public transport system, with routes, fares, service levels, fleet specifications and customer service standards determined by Transport for NSW. A small number of services operate outside of this network.

CDC Broken Hill, formerly Buslink Broken Hill and Murton's City Bus, is a bus operator in the Australian city of Broken Hill. It is a subsidiary of ComfortDelGro Australia.

Hunter Valley Buses is an Australian bus operator who operates bus, coach and charter services in the Central Coast and Hunter regions of New South Wales. Previously known as Blue Ribbon, it was one of the first companies to be bought by ComfortDelGro Cabcharge in 2005, now ComfortDelGro Australia.

CDC Ballarat Australian bus company

CDC Ballarat, formerly known as Davis Bus Lines, is an Australian bus company operating in Ballarat, Victoria, Australia. It is a subsidiary of CDC Victoria, in turn a subsidiary of ComfortDelGro Australia, in turn a subsidiary of Singapore-based ComfortDelGro.
