Aodh Ruadh CLG are a GAA club based in the town of Ballyshannon in County Donegal.

Contents

Historically one of their county's most successful GAA clubs, they have won 12 Donegal Senior Football Championships. However, they dropped to and played at intermediate level for a decade. The club is scheduled to compete at the senior grade again in 2021 for the first time since 2010, having won the 2020 Donegal Intermediate Football Championship.

The club colours are green and white and they play their home games at Fr Tierney Park.

History

Aodh Ruadh was founded in 1909 as a football and hurling club. [1]

Fr Tierney Park opened officially in 1954. [2]

Jim "Natch" Gallagher was mentor to Donegal's 1972 and 1974 Ulster Senior Football Championship-winning teams. [2]

With Bundoran, Aodh Ruadh formed one half of the St Joseph's team that won seven County Championships and an Ulster Club Championship—the only Donegal team to achieve this feat until Gaoth Dobhair in 2018. They also contributed three players to Donegal's 1992 All-Ireland SFC title win: Brian Murray, Gary Walsh and Sylvester Maguire.

In 2011, Aodh Ruadh created history by electing an all-female executive consisting of: Betty McIntyre, Chair, Emma Gaughan, Secretary, and Catherine McKee, Treasurer. [3]

Robert Emmet's Gaelic Athletic Club Slaughtneil is a Gaelic Athletic Association club based on the townland of Slaughtneil, near Maghera, County Londonderry, Northern Ireland. The club is a member of Derry GAA and compete in gaelic football, hurling and camogie. The club is named after Irish patriot and revolutionary Robert Emmet and play their home games at Emmet Park.

St Eunans GAA

St Eunans GAA is a dual club which plays hurling and Gaelic football. Their home ground is O'Donnell Park in Letterkenny. They field 35 teams, making them the biggest club in their county.

Trillick St Macartans GAC

Trillick St Macartan's is a Gaelic Athletic Association club based in the parish of Trillick in western County Tyrone, Northern Ireland. It competes at Senior level in Tyrone GAA competitions. The club plays Gaelic football, ladies' Gaelic football and camogie.

Greg Blaney is an Irish dual player who played Gaelic football and hurling for Down in the 1980s and 1990s. He was part of the Down team that won the All-Ireland Senior Football Championship in 1991 and 1994. Blaney won three Ulster Senior Football Championships and a National League title with Down and won three All Star awards during his career. He also had a distinguished underage career with the county - winning Ulster Minor, Ulster Under 21 and All-Ireland Under 21 Football Championship medals.

C.L.C.G. Naomh Conaill is a GAA club for the Glenties parish in south-west County Donegal. As well as the town of Glenties, the club also covers the area to the village of Fintown and the areas of Kilraine, The Glen and Maas down to the Gweebara Bridge. Much of this area lies within the Donegal Gaeltacht area. Martin Regan is the current football manager.

Middletown Eoghan Rua Gaelic Athletic Club, also known as Eoghan Ruadh, is a GAA club from Middletown, County Armagh, Northern Ireland. The club fields teams from under-10 level to senior level in Gaelic football, hurling and camogie; all teams use the club colours of black and white with the males playing with vertical stripes. Middletown has won many county championship and league titles, and has been successful in All Ireland club championships. The club plays at J.P. O'Neill Park.

St Joseph's Gaelic Football Club was a Gaelic football club in County Donegal, Ireland.

John Duffy is an Irish former Gaelic footballer who played for Aodh Ruadh and the Donegal county team.

C.L.G. Réalt na Mara, or, in the English language, Star of the Sea GAA, is a Gaelic football only GAA club based in Bundoran, County Donegal, Ireland. The club fields both men's and ladies' teams at underage to Senior level.

Jamie Brennan is an Irish Gaelic footballer and hurler who plays football for Réalt na Mara and the Donegal county team, and has hurled for Aodh Ruadh.

The Donegal Intermediate Football Championship is an annual club football competition organised by Donegal GAA.
