Yvelines is a department in the western part of the Île-de-France region in Northern France. In 2016, it had a population of 1,431,808. Its prefecture is Versailles, which is home to the Palace of Versailles, the principal residence of the King of France from 1682 until 1789, nowadays a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Yvelines's subprefectures are Saint-Germain-en-Laye, Mantes-la-Jolie and Rambouillet.
Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines[sɛ̃ kɑ̃.tɛ̃ ɑ̃.n‿iv.lin] is a new town and a communauté d'agglomération in the French département of Yvelines. It is one of the original five villes nouvelles of Paris and was named after the Saint Quentin Pond, which was chosen to become the town's centre. It is part of the much larger Paris metropolitan area, and is around 25 km (16 mi) west of the centre of Paris.
