Carebaco Junior International

The Carebaco Junior International Badminton Championships is an open junior U19 tournament organized yearly since 2013 at the Carebaco Games by the Caribbean Regional Badminton Confederation (CAREBACO) normally one week prior to the Carebaco International.

The tournament is an event for under 19 year old junior individual players The Pan Am event [1] is part of the BWF Future juniors series and therefore eligible for BWF Junior World Ranking Points. Member countries of Carebaco can apply in advance as candidates to organize the event as part of the complete yearly held Carebaco Games.

Virgil Soeroredjo is a former Surinamese badminton player and now coach. He competed for Suriname at the 2012 Summer Olympics. He also competed for Suriname at 3 Pan Am Games: the 2003 Pan American Games, the 2007 Pan American Games & the 2011 Pan American Games. Mitchel Arthur Wongsodikromo is a Surinamese badminton player and coach. He competed for Suriname at 3 Pan Am Games: 2003 Pan American Games, 2007 Pan American Games & the 2011 Pan American Games. As a very young badminton player of the club T.N.F. in Suriname Mitchel Wongsodikromo was an exceptional talent and won numerous juniors titles and was soon selected to represent his country abroad winning several juniors medals at Caribbean, Central American and South American events. Lots of his success was with his doubles partner Virgil Soeroredjo.

Osleni Guerrero Badminton player

Osleni Guerrero Velazco is a Cuban badminton player. He is the first Cuban badminton player to win a medal in the Pan American Games. Guerrero also competed at the 2016 Summer Olympics.

Choi Sol-gyu is a South Korean badminton player. He has been best known as a mixed doubles player since his back-to-back titles at the Badminton Asia Junior Championships in 2012 and 2013. However, as a junior, he was also successful in boys' singles, in which he won the under-17 title at the 2011 Surabaya Cup and the Malaysia International Youth U19 in both 2012 and 2013. He was a part of the Korean national team that won the 2017 Sudirman Cup.

The Carebaco International is an international badminton tournament of the "Caribbean Regional Badminton Confederation" (Carebaco). Until 1999 the tournament was a closed event eligible only for Carebaco members, but to gain BWF World Ranking points since 1999 the Carebaco International tournament became a level 4 open individual event, now part of the BWF Future Series.

Sören Opti Badminton player

Sören Hans Brad Opti is a badminton player from Suriname. He competed at the 2016 Rio Summer Olympics. He lost to both Lee Chong Wei of Malaysia and Derek Wong Zi Liang of Singapore during group play and did not advance further. Opti was the flagbearer for Suriname during the opening ceremony. Opti participated at the 2014 and 2018 Central American and Caribbean Games. After winning many National and Regional junior titles, he became Surinamese National Champion Men's Singles in 2016 and retained this title in 2017, 2018 and 2019. In 2016 and 2018 he was runner-up at the Carebaco International. In 2016 he reached the semi-finals at the Chile International and the Santo Domingo Open. Opti participated at the 2019 Pan Am Games for Suriname in the Men's Singles and Men's Doubles events. In 2019 he reached the semi-finals in the Mens Doubles category with his doubles partner Mitch Nai Chung Tong at the Carebaco International in Bridgetown, Barbados.

Nelson Javier Ozuna is a Dominican Republic badminton player.

Cesar Adonis Brito González is a Dominican Republic badminton player. In 2016, he won bronze medal at the Pan Am Junior Badminton Championships in mixed doubles event with his partner Nairoby Abigail Jimenez. He competed at the 2018 Central American and Caribbean Games and clinched the bronze medal in the men's doubles event partnered with Reymi Cabreras.

Dakeil Jonathan Thorpe is a Barbadian badminton player. Thorpe competed at the 2010, 2014, and 2018 Commonwealth Games. He also represented his country at the 2015 Pan American Games. He was the men's doubles champion at the 2018 Carebaco International with Shae Michael Martin and at the 2016 Suriname International tournament partnered with Cory Fanus. Thorpe also won the mixed doubles event at the 2016 Carebaco International with Tamisha Williams.

Alrick Toney Badminton player

Alrick Toney is a Surinamese male badminton player. In 2016, he became the runner-up at the Suriname International tournament in men's doubles event.

Jada Renales is a Trinidadian badminton player. Renales is coached by her father, Derwin Renales, a former national badminton player. She was the national under-19 champion for three consecutive years. At the 2012-2016 Carebaco Junior International tournament, she was 6 times in the second place and 5 times in third place. In 2014, she represented her country competed at the Veracruz Central American and Caribbean Games. In 2017, she won double title at the Solo Open Championships. She clinched the women's and mixed doubles title, and also place second in the singles event. She also received the TTBA's 2012 Most Outstanding Female Junior, 2014 Female Player of the Year, and 2015 Junior Female Player of the Year.

Dylan Darmohoetomo Badminton player

Dylan Darmohoetomo is a Surinamese badminton player. He is a member of the Surinamese badminton club Perfect Flying Feathers (P.F.F.).

Mikaylia Roanna Haldane is a Jamaican badminton player. Haldane was the mixed doubles champion at the 2009 National Championships with her partner Daniel Thompson. She was selected to compete at the 2011 Pan American Games in Guadalajara, Mexico. Partnered with Garron Palmer, she emerged as the mixed doubles champion at the 2014 Carebaco International tournament. Haldane also participated at the 2014 and 2018 Central American and Caribbean Games.

Jason Anthony Ho-Shue is a Canadian badminton player. In 2015, he settled triple crowns at the Pan Am Junior Badminton Championships in boys' singles, doubles, and mixed doubles event. In the mixed team event he won the bronze medal. In 2016, he became the youngest Canadian badminton player who won the national title in men's singles event. He also won double titles at the XX Pan Am Individual Championships in men's singles and doubles event. He represented his country competed at the 2018 Commonwealth Games in Gold Coast. He was a gold medallist in the men's doubles event partnered with Nyl Yakura at the 2019 Lima Pan American Games, also won a bronze medal in the men's singles.

Josephine Yuenling Wu is a Canadian badminton player. Josephine is currently a business student at the University of Alberta and has been competing in badminton since she was seven years old. As a junior, she has won 29 provincial titles and was a member of Team Canada at the 2012 BWF World Junior Championships and the Pan Am Junior Badminton Championships from 2008 to 2013. Despite having a full course load in university, Josephine’s passion for the sport has motivated her to continue balancing her school work and training. She was the mixed doubles winner at the 2014 College-University National Championships and went on to represent Canada at the 2014 World University Badminton Championships in Cordoba, Spain. Outside of training, Josephine also enjoys coaching her high school’s badminton team. In 2016, she won the gold medal in the mixed team event at the Pan Am Badminton Championships. In the individual event, she won the gold medal in the women's doubles and silver medal in the mixed doubles event. Wu was a gold medalist in the mixed doubles event at the 2019 Lima Pan American Games.

Daigenis Mercedes Saturria is a Dominican Republic female badminton player. In 2013, she won the Carebaco International tournament in the women's doubles event partnered with Berónica Vibieca. In 2015, she also won the Carebaco International tournament in the women's and mixed doubles event and became the runner-up in the women's singles event. She competed at the 2015 Pan Am Games in Toronto, Canada.

Génesis Valentín Suárez is a Puerto Rican female badminton player. In 2013, she became the runner-up at the Carebaco International tournament in the women's doubles event. In 2014, she competed at the Central American and Caribbean Games in Veracruz, Mexico. She also became the runner-up at the Puerto Rico International tournament in the women's singles event.

Dennis Coke is a Jamaican badminton player who competed at the 2010 Summer Youth Olympics in Singapore. In 2009, he won the boys' singles and doubles at the All Jamaica Junior Championships. At the BWF International tournament, he was the men's doubles runner-up at the 2015 Carebaco International and mixed doubles runner-up at the 2017 Jamaica International. He also won the bronze medal at the 2016 Pan Am Badminton Championships in the mixed doubles event partnered with Wynter. In 2017, he won the Jamaican National Badminton Championships in the men's singles and doubles event partnered with Anthony McNee. Coke was part of the national team that won the men's team bronze at the 2018 Pan Am Men's Team Championships. In 2018, he competed at the Commonwealth Games in Gold Coast.

Crystal Leefmans Badminton player

Crystal Leefmans is a Surinamese badminton player. In 2010, she won the bronze medals at the Medellín South American Games in the mixed doubles and team event. In 2011, she won the mixed doubles title at the Carebaco International tournament in the individuals event of the Carebaco Games partnered with Mitchel Wongsodikromo. Leefmans was also the champion at the Suriname International tournament in 2012 and 2013. In 2018 she won the mixed doubles Carebaco International title again at home, this time partnering compatriot Dylan Darmohoetomo.
