Carwai Seto (born 2 April 1973) is a Canadian breaststroke, freestyle and medley swimmer who represented Taiwan in international competition. She competed in five events [1] at the 1988 Summer Olympics. [2]
Seto was born and raised in Halifax, Nova Scotia. Her mother is Taiwanese, which made her eligible to compete for Taiwan. [3] Her swimming coach was fellow Nova Scotian Gary MacDonald. [4]
Seto competed at the 1988 Summer Olympics and the 1990 Asian Games. [3] She held the Taiwanese record of 2:38.93 in the 200 m breaststroke from 1989 until 2004, when it was broken by Lin Man-hsu. [5] She later set the Taiwanese record of 1:13.33 in the 100 m breaststroke at the 1991 Pan Pacific Swimming Championships, which stood until 2005 when it was broken by Tong Yu-chia. [6]
Seto entered Princeton University in 1991. [3] She subsequently received a Master of Education from Lesley University in Massachusetts, and taught math and science at various elementary and middle schools in Massachusetts, Maryland, and California. In 2013, she joined the faculty of Black Pine Circle (Upper) School in Berkeley, California, where she teaches math. [7]
The Republic of China competed as Chinese Taipei at the 1988 Summer Olympics in Seoul, South Korea. 61 competitors, including 43 men and 18 women, took part in 84 events in 13 sports.

Daiya Seto is a Japanese professional swimmer who specializes in individual medley, butterfly, breaststroke, and freestyle events. He holds the world record in the short course 400-metre individual medley and formerly held the world record in the short course 200-metre butterfly. He won the gold medal in the 400-metre individual medley at the 2012, 2014, 2016, 2018, 2021, and 2022 world short course championships, as well as at the 2013, 2015, and 2019 world long course championships.

Sydney Pickrem is a Canadian competitive swimmer who competed for Texas A&M University in College Station. Wu Tsai-fu was a Taiwanese weightlifter. He competed in the men's light heavyweight event at the 1996 Summer Olympics where he placed 14th. He competed in the fourth, fifth, and sixth weight classes in Taiwanese weightlifting contests. Wu received a silver medal in the clean and jerk event and a bronze medal in the total weight lifted at the 1997 Asian Weightlifting Championships. By 1997, Wu had set almost 20 national records.
Chang Wei-chia is a Taiwanese freestyle swimmer. She competed in three events at the 1996 Summer Olympics. In the 200m freestyle, she placed 32nd.
The 2020 Taipei Marathon, the 24th running of that city's premier long-distance race, was held on December 20, 2020. Around 28,000 people ran in the event, of whom 22,189 finished.
