The band is identified as part of the Elephant 6 collective. Throughout its existence, of Montreal's musical style has evolved considerably and drawn inspiration from 1960s psychedelic pop acts.

The Silly Pillows were an American indie pop band formed by Jonathan Caws-Elwitt. They began as a home-recorded duo of Jonathan and his wife Hilary Caws-Elwitt, sharing tapes through the cassette underground. In the 1990s the band evolved into a studio-recorded full lineup, which dissolved in 2000. From 2005 to 2008, Jonathan and Hilary revived their home-recording career as "The Original Silly Pillows."

Members presently include Hannah M. Jones, Bob Hay, Bill David, Kay Stanton, Bryan Poole, Vanessa Briscoe Hay, Jason NeSmith and John Fernandes. Alumni include Randy Bewley (deceased), Heather McIntosh, Will Cullen Hart and Peter Erchick. Supercluster play what they term "Appalachian Wave." For a brief period they were known as FFFM.

"Who Threw That Ham at Me" is the third single by The Superions, a side project of Fred Schneider of The B-52s. The single was released to iTunes Stores as a digital download on November 24, 2009, ironically, the day after celebrity chef Paula Deen was hit in the face with a flying ham while helping pass out hams for charity in Atlanta. A remix by Casper & The Cookies was also released on The Superions EP by Happy Happy Birthday To Me Records as a digital download on January 19, 2010, the CD and Limited Edition 12" were released on February 23, 2010.

The Midwest Beat, who play Americana music inspired by country rock and folk rock, have toured Europe three times and released a handful of full-length albums, singles and EPs.
Louis Schefano is an American singer-songwriter, producer/engineer and multi-instrumentalist originally from Birmingham, Alabama, United States. He has recorded under various monikers including Regia, Louis, and Suspicious Light. Schefano was also a founding member of Remy Zero and Little Red Rocket, and has performed, produced or recorded with Azure Ray, Maria Taylor, Verbena, Cheshires, Bright Eyes, The Ladybug Transistor, and Jaymay.
