All Philippine cities are chartered cities, whose existence as corporate and administrative entities is governed by their own specific municipal charters in addition to the Local Government Code of 1991, which specifies their administrative structure and powers. As of July 8, 2023, there are 149 cities.

Added to the formidable list are the decisions and resolutions of the National Labor Relations Commission which are now initially reviewable by the Court of Appeals, instead of a direct recourse to the Supreme Court, via petition for certiorari under Rule 65.
John Henry Renner Osmeña, also known as Sonny Osmeña or simply John Osmeña, was the grandson of Philippine President Sergio Osmeña. He served as a senator of the Philippines from 1971 to 1972, 1987 to 1995, and 1998 to 2004. He was the last surviving senator of the 7th Congress, the last Congress before martial law.

Jose V. Rodriguez was a Filipino Visayan medical doctor, politician, and legislator from Cebu, Philippines. He was elected Congressman for Cebu's 7th district in the 1st Congress of the Commonwealth, 2nd Congress of the Commonwealth, and the 1st Congress of the Republic (1945-1949). On November 9, 1952, he was appointed mayor of Cebu City until November 16, 1955.
