Chanchalguda Central Jail, located in Hyderabad, India, is one of the oldest jails in the country. [1] The jail is in the old city of Hyderabad at Chanchalguda. It was constructed during the regime of the Nizam of Hyderabad, [2] and remains operational today.

The jail has an official capacity of 1000 inmates, but has recently come to exceed 1600 inmates and is said to be overcrowded. An average of 40 new inmates arrive at the jail daily. [3] In 2012, renovations began to update the amenities and expand the occupancy of the jail. Following the introduction of an adult literacy programme, Chanchalguda Central Jail reported a 100% literacy rate from 1989-90. [1]

A petrol pump staffed by inmates is located adjoining the jail. [4] The annual turnover of the petrol pump is over ₹100 crore as of 2017. [5] [6] Apart from this, there is also a restaurant staffed by inmates and a store which sells handloom products made by the inmates, including bedsheets and towels. [7]

Coimbatore Central Prison is a prison located near Gandhipuram bus stand in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu, India. The prison was constructed during the Madras Presidency year 1872. It is located in an area comprising 167.76 acres (0.6789 km2). The prison is authorized to accommodate 2208 prisoners. The freedom fighter V.O. Chidambaram Pillai was confined in this prison during the freedom struggle from 9 July 1908 to 1 December 1910.

Prisons in India are overcrowded and eight of out ten prisoners in Indian jails await trial. There are 1319 prisons in India as of 2021. Currently, there are about 1400 prisons. After the COVID-19 pandemic, the number of prisoners increased 13 per cent from 2020 to 2021, making over 80 per cent of the prisons overcrowded. After the Supreme Court order, a number of prisoners were release in 2020 to decongest the jails reducing the overall prison occupancy in 20 states and two Union Territories to a little over 93 per cent. However, the occupancy rate increased to 130 per cent again by 2021. About 63 unnatural deaths took place in Indian prisons. Among the major states, Tamil Nadu is the only state which has less than 100 per cent occupancy followed by Karnataka.

FASTag is an electronic toll collection system in India, operated by the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI). It employs Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) technology for making toll payments directly from the prepaid or savings account linked to it or directly toll owner. It is affixed on the windscreen of the vehicle and enables one to drive through toll plazas without stopping for transactions. The tag can be purchased from official Tag issuers or participating Banks which are Made in India and if it is linked to a prepaid account, then recharging or top-up can be as per requirement. The minimum recharge amount is ₹100 and can be done online. As per NHAI, FASTag has unlimited validity. 7.5% cashback offers were also provided to promote the use of FASTag. Dedicated Lanes at some Toll plazas have been built for FASTag.

<i>Khaidi No. 150</i> 2017 film by V. V. Vinayak

Khaidi No. 150 is a 2017 Indian Telugu-language action drama film directed by V. V. Vinayak and produced by Lyca Productions and Konidela Production Company. The film starred Chiranjeevi and Kajal Aggarwal. It marked Chiranjeevi's return to films in a lead role after a decade, and also his 150th film. The third entry of the Khaidi trilogy, the film is an official remake of the 2014 Tamil film Kaththi.

Central Prison, Bangalore is the largest prison in the Indian state of Karnataka. Established in 1997, it became the central prison of Bangalore in 2000 when the old jail, which has since been converted to Freedom Park, was shut for renovation.

Central Prison, Vijayapura, one of the oldest prisons in the country, is located in a 15th-century heritage structure belonging to the Adil Shahi era. Earlier, it was known as Central Prison, Bijapur. It has a lofty Persian-style entrance, black-stoned wide walls and Arabic scriptures carved in stone slab. After the district was renamed as Vijayapura, the jail is also renamed as the Central Prison, Vijayapura. It is the oldest prison complex in Karnataka and one of the oldest jail buildings in India.
